I rescued my tuber from becoming a chopper.

It's been a bit spendier than planned, but it's all in good fun!

It was about 10 years ago that I parted out a perfectly good S3T. I used the motor in the S1W that I bought from a guy that was doing a chopper build. I was able to get the full rolling chassis and bodywork from him.

Hopefully someone will buy and make use of the remains.

You have to wonder if he even rode the S3 before deciding to gut it to fix his Sportster.

"You know, I like the way this Buell runs, but it'd be so much cooler if it weighed 100 pounds more and didn't handle nearly as well."

Hughlysses , i've seen Buell's road racing against sportsters here in Australia at Eastern Creek raceway about twenty years back, surprising there was not much difference the Buell's did not pull away they looked to be even. might have been the riders.
i'll soon find out difference between a quick S1 with thunderstorm heads andrews n84 cams SE CV44 carb buell race pipe . different to stock clutch stock swing arm but strut on rear strapped down forks stock shift no wheelie bar it ran 10.9 121mph quarter mile.
same friend still has that bike in storage,
he just got a sportster 2000 year model got barrels from a 1200 as bike he got was 883 & he had some XB heads just put high comp pistons welded heads to make a few changes has duel cycle shack pipes but same cams same carb just Hammer manifold as could not get an se cv44 manifold from dealer, has dyna adjustable ignition
main difference is heads n pipe think duel pipe will give him more top end Torque the 2 into 1 gives more low end Torque the heads not that much different just flowed a bit better in exhaust but not much over thunderstorm to make it worth the cost, but as you said sportster heavier, but i think from experience drag racing street bikes the sportster will be easier to get out the hole quicker ( 60 foot )
will find out, also the S1 was never on a dyno so had no idea what the power was just used the real test the Black Dyno
but this sportster will be run on a Dynojet 250i to tune ( he has more cash now ha )
but i'll be interested , i think he will take a while to get used to the new bike at the track, but once he gets feel of it i'll be interested to see what speeds look like & what 60 foot looks like compare to his S1 Buell.
i have personally beat guys on GSXR1000 heads up on a Dyna TC 95 but mostly due to me out riding them like my 60 foot time was a lot quicker, & my reaction time was a lot quicker, so just saying weight & handling make all difference not always right, the rider is in control thats the most important factor!!!!

Just like buying a nice Classic Vette and pulling the motor cause you think your truck would really benefit from the power of a 427 with narrow headers .....

How dare anyone pass judgement....

Would you say the same of a piece of art? A pet? A spouse? Another man? A child?

All Buells are created free. We are simply caretakers.
