I was wondering how I would remove the rear swingarm on my 96 S1. I've loosened the pinch bolts but the "cams" won't turn to release the arm. I call them cams but I'm not sure that's what they are. I've done a search and can't find relevant information. Thanks, JP | ||

Don't loosen the one opposite the hex on the swing arm pivot bolt. It's threaded and if you loosen the pinch bolt it will just spin. Don't ask me how I know.  | ||

If its like my X1 you have to pull the isolators off and as Ft mentioned leave the pinch bolt tight so you can remove the small hex bolt that is down in the isolator mount hole. Then the pivot spacers should come out. | ||

I pretty sure you'll have to pull the spacers to get the pivot spacers to back out of engagement with the swingarm. | ||

Not all tuber's are constructed the same... I believe that a '96 S1 would still have the S2 style assembly, which is slightly different than the later tubers. S2 style:  Later style (what is being described above by other posters):  The removal process is similar, however: - Isolators must be out of the way. - One pinch bolt must not be loosened. - The 'cam' being referred to is called a bearing adjuster bolt in the manual. Loosen the bearing adjuster bolt from the free side. - Loosen remaining pinch bolt. - Support swingarm while sliding the other bearing adjuster bolt with the shaft still threaded on it. A note, the shaft could come out either end, and won't matter if it comes out with the first bearing adjuster bolt or second. HTH, 1313 |
