It's a lot easier than the isolastics on a Commando !

Piece of cake...just be careful not to pinch any wires. Engine needs to be carefully supported.

As long as your front mount doesn't come off looking like this...you're doing better than me!!

That mount does not have to be disturbed at all...Support the weight of the engine up front, move the wiring harness out of the way in the steering neck area and go at it. You'll need a torque wrench to handle ~100 lb-ft for the center bolt. Don't recall the value for the two side bolts but I think I ended up using a crow foot wrench for those.

The mount does not have to be removed from the head, you are correct.

Unless it looks like mine : (

I know it can...but that head is off my restoration project, a 98 S3 Defender. I'll be putting a fresh head on it and keeping the busted one as a spare for one of the other bikes...just in case.

Done more than 10 years now and never broke again. Nor a stud or mount.

I don't doubt the strength, I just don't want a visible repair like that on a one-of-twelve motorcycle...

Nice looking work though!

Actually, the front mount IS supposed to come off when using the new isolator with an older bike that does not have an indented steering head, because the new isolator is supposed to bolt in from under the frame in that case. Most likely that is because it's next to impossible to fit the new isolator in from the top with the correct side up. However, I managed to fit it in the top with the correct side up to avoid pulling off the mount, since I didn't want to risk breaking it. It is a very tight fit to squeeze it through though.

Dude it's not a Ferrari!

Sorry couldn't resist.

I had nothing on the bike to go red. Well, the battery, but race batteries are red (faster see ; ) ) The swithgear back then was yellow, as are my Accel wires and the Dymag transfers on the wheels. I thought yellow head more unique than redhead.

Now if were talking women - redhead over blonde every time!

The yellow looks perfect on your bike Rocket. I was just saying that mine will be red since red is a dominant color on my bike. I too have a red battery, Lithium at that. Shed more than 12 lbs over stock!
