My first contract job in the new place : )

Co-worker says "hey...you ride Buells...think you can get mine running again? It's been sitting for a few years..."

Roy's the original owner.

It has the original rotor (can you guess where the pads were while it was sitting?). They look like the original tires too. uggghhh, I don't wanna ride on THOSE!!

I suspect it's been MORE than "a few years" since it was run...

96 S2T #000248, he has the Signature Series bits and the original muffler.

This is gonna be a fun project : )

One heads-up:

Someone here woke up a sleeper that was on its kick stand for a few years.
Seems as though all of the tranny juice gradually settled off of the output shaft bearing so it wasn't lubed.

Perhaps others will have better memory than me and chime in with more info?

That happened to me and my S1W back in...what...06 I think. 1100 miles on the clock.

It's already on my checklist : )

And how tempted were you to say, "No, I can't. But I'll give you a $100 for it for the parts".

I already suggested he put his initials in the T handlebars...the only T bits my 95 doesn't have.

I did tell him I may not give it back. He said "ok. Sit at your place, sit at my place, no big difference". I reminded him - at my place, "sit" wouldn't happen : )

That's a neat project.

There's a '96 S2T for sale on my local criaglist that looks super nice, twin to that one (same colors, narrow bags), and I want it in the worst way. Just can't justify it after all the work I put into the S3T.

That looks well worth the effort to get it back on the road. Maybe he will sell it to you when you are done. The only thing missing is the pigeon poop from the nests in the rafters.

Well the battery has water in it at least : )

I'm still getting situated in the new digs so this is off to a slow start. Locating tools ("did I move that yet? Where the hell did I put it??"), figuring out placement and workspace, trying to find a lift/table to work on bikes now that I have room for one (anybody getting rid of one? Or do I bite the bullet and buy a new one?), all sorts of fun stuff! But I found my spare battery tender and pulled the battery to hook it up.

That's progress, right?

Well, the battery is toast. Today's run was a new set of plugs, wires, O-rings, fluids, filter...and building a new workbench in the "motorcycle workshop" room.

Probably just as well. If I left that room empty...well...I don't need to buy a pool table anyway ; )

This week...disassembly and diagnosis : )

Cool Joe. If not too much trouble I'm sure a lot of us would love to see the restoration documented with pics of the progress.
