I thought HD was supporting Buell parts for 7 years after they shut them down? I need touch-up paint for my Molten Orange bodywork and HD says it has been discontinued! Anyone know where I might be able to get some? I know I could take it to an auto parts store with a spectrometer and they could mix something up, but I don't need a whole bunch, just want to touch up some nicks... |

I think they were supporting bikes seven years from the date they quit manufacturing, not from beginning of Buell. The tuber parts I beleive are being only supported by what inventory out there still exist. |

Send me your model and year. I'll get the part number for you and we can get someone to run it and see if any exists. |

I know for a fact that Red Snap is obsolete. And the support number is "years from last production", so pretty much anything tuber you can find...grab it. |

This should help . . . Take that touch up number to your dealer, or better yet a Badweb sponsor dealer, and ask them to run it and see if there is any shown anywhere. |

I think I have a molten orange touch up kit at the house. I've got a few different touch up sets that I've acquired over the years, not sure if any of them are still good or not. I'll dig through them when I get home and let you know! Prior |

Well, that certainly clears up the time thing, scary to think my Buells are going the way of my antique HDs, I'll have to start scouring the swaps for parts! I saw that post, the guy with the paint hadn't posted since August, Blake gave his blessing to let him share the information and he vanished? Court, Prior, thank you for looking into things! My Dutch is rusty . . . but ALL that information, as well as ALL info related to paints, bodywork and decals, can be found in the Buell collected Body Work Catalog. The stuff there is cut and paste from the Buell book. |

>>>hope my english is a bit better. Your English is great . . . as I've come to expect from the Dutch. I have 2 folks I speak to in Amsterdam on a regular basis and they never cease to amaze me. One of the funnier stories is when we held the "International Buell Xmas" a couple years ago in NYC. We put the flags of all the various countries in front of the house and one of my dear friends was concerned that his wife didn't know English. I told him that during their 10 day stay she'd need only two things:
- Let's go shopping
- More wine, please
It worked perfectly! We found that the more folks drank the less he lack of English was a problem. They've since been back, as have their kids, to stay with us and she does GREAT ! You can see how my nasty licorice habit got started . . .

Well, Thanks to Court and "Mr. Anonymous", the dealership down the street from where I work happened to be one of the few who had it in stock! Now I just hope the paint's still good, it's got an '01 date, that's as old as the bike I'm touching up! Dare I ask, did they make touch up paint for the '02 White Lightning, the little beauty I picked up has some nicks in the frame? Dare I ask Court to look up another number? Dare I ask Mr. Anonymous to go underground once again and use his stealth skills to provide a dealership listing that might have the paint? Dare I do the same thing with my other tuber, '99 X1 Reactor Yellow, since this stuff is drying up (literally)? |

Hogluvr, I do have a set of the Molten Orange touch up paint. All 3 bottles are in good shape and paint is wet. Part numbers are 96014-98Y (clear), 96014-98YY (MLTN ORG TOP COAT) and 96014-98YYL (MLTN ORG 98 BASE). If you haven't been able to source from one of the above dealers, shoot me a PM. |

That's cool that the orange is out there, and folks are having success in getting it. Otherwise I'd have to feel guilty. I have a bottle left over from my '99 M2 that I owned back in '99. Still viable paint (even in an un-heated garage), but since I don't have an orange Buell anymore...I use it as marking paint for all my critical fasteners. I'd have to feel guilty if folks couldn't get it, who actually needed it! I also have - and will have to go to the garage and get the number - a bottle of "White Frame and Wheels" touchup. It came up a little yellow on my S2's Marchesinis...and fortunately I haven't had to try it on the S1W yet (I also have a jar of Ice White Pearl topcoat, just the pearl/clear mixture that goes over the white). But I think the X1W is just white-white, no pearl. |
