I think it is a standard HD Sporty pressed crank.

It's not the same as a sporty of the same year.
It was lightened and the crankcase is set up for that specific pair of flywheels.

Machining would be required to make XL bottom end fit.

Whats the problem with your crank ?
i had a piece of metal caught in the big end bearing (previous owner bodge job) which caused wear so i had a new pin made, rods honed and new bearings fitted for a fraction of the cost of a new crank.

Seriously - send John Dahmer a note at Darkhorse Crankworks. If ANYBODY knows cranks/flywheels for these beasts, it'd be him.

He did the work on a number of race machines - including James' Gang endurance racer

http://darkhorsecrankworks.com/

I've had him rework two cranksets for me now. HE's a wizard.

Thank you all.
I have the bike at the local Harley authorised stealership where they have undertaken to replace the crankshaft among other things. The bike is in their workshop in pieces and has been that way for 4 weeks now.I have my doubts about the availability of a new crankshaft. They took A $2000.00 deposit.

To those interested in going this way:-Through an authorized Buell franchise, I was able to completely rebuild my motor. $5,200 later.
