Just got new pirelli angels put on the x1 and now the belt is too tight. i don't have a bike stand what is the easiest way to adjust the belt then? one of my driver footpegs is a breakaway model and the other is solid? Any suggestions? and what is the proper adjustment? 2 inch slack w/o rider and about 1-1.5 with on?
Thanks

Scary Loose. I could explain but Buellistic can do it better.. send him a P.M. and he will send you more info than you will ever need about the belt adjustment.

You don't need it in the air. Loosen the adjuster lock nut, back off the adjuster nuts an equal amount on each side, and whack the tire with a dead blow hammer to move it forward. For the final check I use a micrometer to measure the space on the adjuster plate to center the tire.

I just did mine following a similar method described by Ess. Of course you need to loosen the axle nut first.

I loosen the adjusters, jump on the bike, jam it in reverse using the rear brake and handlebars.

Yeah, extremely loose, probably more than 2" when you're measuring it. At least 1.5" when you're sitting on it. More loose if you ride two-up frequently.

Somewhere between "scary loose" and so loose you can lift it off the rear pully.
I use the flats of the adjuster nuts to keep the adjustment equal.
