depending on the handlebars you are running, any of the pre FI tube frame tanks should fit. (not counting S2 or earlier)

S1, S1W, S3, M2 from any year, until S3 went FI in 99 i think?

do you want a small tank, or a larger Manta style?

if you want a small tank, you need an early M2 or S1 tank, the S1W, S3 and later M2 were the larger Manta style.

Actually, an S2 tank will fit just fine; it just takes a bit of work to look decent (paint-wise). Rick_a has an S2 tank on his S1.

Yeah the tank will fit fine, but I don't know if the seat will mate to it or not. I think it will though. IIRC, the later M2 tanks were just Manta tanks.

S3's went FI in 99, a 98 S3 tank will fit. If you are going that route try and find a "T" version since it's bored out to a slightly larger capacity.

Replace the bubbled decals with the raised, self adhesive ones from HD, or have some made to match in vinyl by a local sign shop.

Ok so the tank I bought has been sitting in a shed for 2-3 yrs he gave me the fuel cap hardware and everything. The tank has shrunk can not even get the cap parts on. I get it it expands and contracts with fuel or heat. How should I get it to expand? Put gas in it and set it in the sun? Any ideas?
