I have tried a long list of additives over the years. Most don't have any effect. Some work and some work well. This is like the oil\spark plug fight. I know that three products that I have used that work are. 1. BG44K 2. Lucas fuel treatment 3. Seafoam I have the prof that seafoam works. My sister in-law had a 97 Toyota Camry that had a bad rod knock form oil starvation. We were going to pull the motor and replace it with a new short bock from japan. Before I started to take it apart I wanted to see what seafoam would do. With this motor I could tap into a good vacuum port that only treated one bank of cylinders. this is what I found when I pulled the top end off. NON treated side: Seafoam treated side: I know that people have had different results with any treatment. Just my 2¢ |

ok, I was doing some reading and seafoam can be used a few ways. I would presumably just add it to my gas in a motorcycles case. Does it smoke also when added to the gas or only when poured down a vacuum line? |

It will smoke like a old lady at bingo when ingested through a vacuum source. When added to the tank it should not smoke, unless you have added too much. For a motorcycle I would only add 1/8 or less of a can at a time (to a full tank). My father swears up and down by TECHRON. He uses it every oil change. I have not been inside one of his engines to see the results, but then again that could mean that it works? |

I use G44k on the X1 and sea foam on my klr650. Both work well. Valvoline has a good intake cleaning kit also. You add it to the intake as the bike or motor is running and it will clean the whole intake chamber and injectors. |

my bike was sputtering and what not for being in storage for prob. 6 years lol dunno how long since i bought it like it is. My friend cleaned out everything but still sputtering, i put some SeaFoam in there and it ran good until the tank was done.. so i guess it does help a bit, but who knows? worth a try ! :P |

If you store it put Sta-Bil in the gas ... After storage put in some OCTANE BOOST in the gas ... Every 5K miles put in STP GAS TREATMENT in the gas ... Have 110,548.5 miles on my 1997 S3T, so they work for me ... |

Seafoam WILL clean your combustion chambers. I've seen it first hand many times. I run a tank full of treated gas a couple of times a month. I use it instead of Stabil in the fall. I have another 1st hand story about Seafoam. My neighbor called me one evening and asked for help with his daughters car. It was a Monte Carl of early 2000's vintage. About 140,000 miles if memory serves. It had been running perfect but now had a REALLY bad clatter. He brought it over and I listened to it for a couple of seconds. It sounded like a collapsed lifter. It was so bad the cylinder was missing. It was cylinder 5 on the back side. Short of tearing it down I suggested we dump a can of Seafoam in the oil. We had nothing to lose. So while the motor was running and clattering away, I poured the can of Seafoam in the oil filler. I swear that by the time the full can was in the motor the clattering was better. Within 30 seconds it was gone completely. There were three of us standing there with our mouths hanging open staring at each other with that "WTF" look on our faces. We let it run for a few more minutes then took it for a drive. Perfect, not a sound. In fact it was quieter than ever. The owner ran it for about 100 miles then changed oil. The car is still running perfect to this day, over two years later. The stuff works as does the BG product. Not sure of the Lucas product as I've never used it.. Brad |

Dang! I may have to run some of that stuff in my Bug. It's picked up this odd stumble on acceleration that I haven't found a cure for yet. Might even put it in the oil for a little while, just to clean it out... I'll probably put it in my X1 and my dad's Wide Glide too. Honestly, this is the first time I've ever seen convincing evidence for fuel additives being useful. |
