I know there is a hundred different threads on the TPS reset...but that's not my problem. Here's the problem and everything i did step by step. Started bike and let warm up to 160C. Turned bike off and loosened the TPS adjustment out to 0/0 and pressed Reset. Reconnected to the bike and adjusted to 4.9 degrees 5.1% and started the bike...adjusted it clear down 3.5 degrees and 3.2 % to get it to 1150ish for that perfect idle. Now when i start the bike i have to hold the throttle to keep it running or adjust the tps screw up so i don't have to hold it. When i ride down the street and it gets warmer i'll have to adjust it back down by the tach to keep it from running at 2k at stop lights. And this problem repeats every time i decide to ride. I'm puzzled...any help? I have the ECM runtime screen from ECMSPY if anyone would like to look at it. I can copy the screen and post it. 2002 X1 W lightning... |

Try the reset again, 5.4-5% ish and 4.9 degrees should idle right at 1000-1075. Be sure to let the throttle snap shut before zeroing. |

I did the reset again today. sprayed a little wd40 on the adjuster nut. i ended up around 3.3% again today. But i'll try it one more time tomorrow. (Message edited by fick15 on April 08, 2011) |

I would consider that normal. My X1 has always been like that. It had a stock ECM and now i have a mapped race ECM and it still does that. It doesn't bother me much. Just make sure you got all your gear on.....Or it could stall out while putting on a glove. You could always change the start up enrichment values in the fuel map. But i have no idea how to do this. But I know it can be done. I just hold the throttle for like a minute and it will hold an idle just fine. I find that if i mess with the adjuster it tends to run a little higher in the rpms, Which i don't like. Once it is warm it runs perfectly where i like it. When you say you adjusted it out to 0/0 is that where you stopped? Did you adjust it out enough to actually let the butterfly close all the way? You can actually have it at full throttle, reset the TPS, and have it say full throttle is 0/0. Just making sure it's not something simple like that. EDIT: I think JRamsey just covered that. Sorry if this was redundant. (Message edited by DesertFox on April 09, 2011) |

OHHHHH okay i see what you guys are saying when you snap the butterfly shut...I guess it just took the right comment. I see what's going on...lol i'm still learning all this sorry I thought i had it down. I'll fire it up and warm up and redo it if weather permits tomorrow. |

Mine started doing that right after I loaded the Race maps. I tried changing the idle "cells" in the fuel maps and experimented with cold start enrichment values to "fix" this with no success. I haven't given up yet but for now I do what Prey does and it's just a part of my routine. You may have better luck. Let us know. |
