first off... i have my bike so far apart, a couple more bolts and the frame is completely off..... i have been thinking of repowdercoating my frame the same black just to freshen it up even though its in really good shape...... But then i was thinking of changing the color to match my wheels.....

thing is, should i just keep the original powder on the frame so the bike it more original????

and i cant decide if i like the black frame or the colored frame better.

here is my bike now, and below is the color of the wheels, which i would do the frame and triples....

bike

thinking of this color for the frame

thoughts?? input??

also, for those that powdered your frame... what did you do with the VIN sticker and such....

thanks

Don't know, but I have that picture of your bike saved on my computer. I love the old color scheme. Can't wait to see the new one

Marc,i've always said you've got one of the nicest bike and done very tastefully done..that said you are doin' one huge changeover that is really goin' to improve the overall looks of your scoot...BIG THUMBS UP!!!!Can't wait for the pics of all done...the color choice is a real toss up,either way is gonna look really good.Like someone said earlier, take pic of bike into photoshop and do color change and go from there to see what it will look like...just my .03 cents worth...no matter what, its still gonna be a way cool lookin' bike when you're done.

The way our guys did frames was, strip everything to bare metal including the VIN stamp. Need it deep and clean.

Tape over the VIN, and do the color powder. Use the smallest piece of tape you can, and still cover the whole stamp.

Pull the tape, and apply the clear powder. This clears over the VIN, but allows you to still see it just fine. If you put color on the stamping, it 'fills' it and makes it unreadable.

Also, use care when pulling any frame stickers. You ain't gettin' any replacements.

That said...go with the new color. I think that little bit of contrast against the black cases would look awesome, and would highlight the artistry that IS the tube frame.

I think the lighter frame color would look great, as Rat said break up all that black a little ,and show off the frame. Plus it will make a more consistent color theme for the whole bike, and matching those wheels will give a more complete fit and finish.

I think your bike looks beautiful as is in the picture. If anything I would powder coat the engine with polished fin lips to match the frame and the rocker covers.

Match the wheels, get the bike done, and make me a pulley!!! Lol, just kidding. I don't have a bike to put one on right now anyway.

I like the frame color too. I was smitten by that color on a 97 S3 in NY that was sold on this board.

Keep us posted.
