Any idea what aftermarket brake pads are most like the OEM HD/Buell brake pads for the front brakes on a 2000 M2 cyclone? I've provided a list below of some aftermarket pads. My question is not to compare performance, rather to compare OEM to aftermarket. -Brake Pads Front Ferodo Sintered -Brake Pads Front Ferodo Platimun Semi-Metallic -Brake Pads Front Nissin Lyndall Gold+ Racing compound -Brake Pads Front Nissin EBC Black Carbon Kevlar -Brake Pads Front Nissin EBC Sintered HH |

What aspect(s) of the pads are you trying to compare if you're not interested in the performance comparison? Longevity, feel, price? |

I was quoted about $66 for the OEM so I wanted to know which aftermarket pads they are the same or similar to. Composition and quality. Generally I find the OEM parts to be of a high-quality. I'm curious to know if there is a 40% markup or if I'm getting a fair deal but I don't know if they are organic, metallic, semi-metallic, etc. I don't even know what Sintered means. |

I would highly advise to stay away from Lyndall's. Initial feel is fine, but over time and use they don't work well and put a high level of wear on the disc. EBC / DP / SBS / Ferodo are all outstanding. I recommend the EBC to be most like OEM. If you want more braking performance then I'd recommend DP or SBS, but their low temperature performance can be "grabby". For track use though they are outstanding. Note, the OEM uses a sintered pad, but if you feel its initial bite is too hard, then use the Organic / Kevlar blend. I would NOT recommend using semi-metallic; use either organic or sintered. If you ride the bike for street use then I'd recommend organic. For track use or spirited canyon roads then sintered. |
