I assume we are speaking of a throttle position sensor,if so mine does not have one on it,as far as any mods,it has none except for a K&N filter in the stock airbox,which the problem existed prior to the install

Not sure if a jet kit would help me any or not but I was looking into the Dynojet kits with & w/o t-slide part numbers 8118 and 8723.Dynojet site states 99-02 but the pdf instructions they provide has 99-01..My 2002 bike has a stock 42 slow and a 195 main.Here is copied & pasted instructions regarding the main jet from Dynojet: Install the Dynojet main jet provided. Use
the DJ185 main jet with an aftermarket airbox and aftermarket exhaust. With an aftermarket airbox, exhaust and
cams use the DJ190 main jet. Are dynojet's jet sizes different in size compared to the same size stock jet.Did Buell go up in jet sizes on the 2002 models?

In 1998 to end of production run all Models had a #200 High Speed Jet ...

Odd that I have a 195 High speed,as far I know and having spoke with the first owner nothing has been done other than oil changes and a brake line repair but anything is possible

Actually, I was distracted and confused my acronyms. A TPS is a Throttle Position Switch that is not present in a carbureted application. I described the effect a malfunctioning VOES, Vacuum Operated Electrical Switch would have in a carbureted model; which would not cause this issue.

None of the aftermarket jetting kits or modifications are going to help you until you establish a basic operating system, which you apparently do not have.

If the fuel in not restricted, the sytem is clean, has no air leaks, stock, then your problem is with timing. This can be either the initial timing setting or the programmed advance curves.

I usually try to do my own work and ask questions if I don't know and you guys have been a great help.As much as I hate to,I think I'll break down and take it to the dealership,I looked over my paperwork tonite that my wife handled at the time of purchase and I have a warranty that was added into the price of the bike so that's a positive. I keep reading about the notorious keihin cough which seems popular with some bikes,is the Keihin cough popping through the airbox?

Here is something to consider before you bring your bike into the dealership and start to describe your symptoms with the expectation that they should take care of it!

You might want to present your bike to the dealership with a carb that has not been altered…they generally frown upon warranting work preformed by or altered by users. Good Luck on replacing that dormon plug!!! I am outta here.....

The warranty is not through Harley but through Assurance,if they don't approve the repair I have no problem paying for it to get fixed

Thanks for the tip Rickie,I was reading back over everything before I give up.The 45 slow jet I installed a while back did help the bike,it stopped the surging as well as the popping in the airbox but it somehow hurt the horsepower overall,it just did not pull as hard at wot which I cannot figure out,I thought the slow jet only controlled idle/part throttle,the 45 also caused a rich idle at 2.5 turns which I didn't try to adjust.I may try the 45 again and readjust the mixture and see what happens.

I know what you mean but I had an intake leak and the great acceleration was only available when the conditions were perfect. will tune til I get it back.the slide is next.

Hi LaFayette,not yet but it's on my list to check it but if it is out of time I'll have to leave that to the dealer not that I can't adjust it but as mentioned I have a year warranty,I hate to tamper too much,but looking over the warranty it covers engine assembly excluding gaskets,primary drive,front/rear suspension,steering,electrical,gauges,ignition,fue l system but it does not include carburetor but injectors,pumps & petcock.As far as tune up it's up to me,plugs,belts,oil changes ect.. but I have to keep records/receipts/dates of what's done... As far as the carb the dealer I bought it from stated they cleaned the carburetor so I feel safe on tinkering on it seeing it has already been into and the dealer that cleaned it was not a Harley dealer,if I do have to take it to Harley I'll just say I've did nothing to it but drive it.

I had a few minutes today to start it up for a bit and found the issue spot by holding it at a steady rpm in neutral,seems the hesitation and occasion pops come in at 2000rpm - 2200rpm but has improved some at 2 3/4 turns on the mixture.Revs off idle are smooth with no hesitation or pops in neutral but the issue is at steady low rpm.On the road from a dead stop it runs perfect and pulls strong through every gear at wot.Something simple I'm sure or hope.Tuning and carb changes would be alot better if it wasn't for that darn airbox
