22 amps times 13 volts is 286 watts... which sounds low to me, but probably in the ballpark.

You do not need to get SCIENTIFIC on these SPEC's. ...

If you want a HIGHER OUT PUT SYS., a XB12X rotor/stater/alt. is supposed to retro fit

All I'm doing is looking for a Chrome regulator for my '99 X1. I think a regulator off a sportster ('94-'03)
will work as long as its a 22 amp. Am I right or wrong?
I'm thinking '04 and later is something like a 30amp or so. Not sure if that would work for me. Anyone know if the 2 are interchangeable?

No they would not be interchangeable. The higher output systems are 3 phase. Stick with the older 22 amp single phase VR for your system.
