I dont know why but my spedo trip meter resets to zero when the bike is shut down. I first thought I may have accidentally reset the trip,nope.

Check for a loose wire on back of speedometer. Possible bad wire or connection in the unswitched circuit. Also battery maybe getting marginal.

mine did this i had a bad connection by the circuit breaker by the battery the nut came loose

Check your fuse. On mine it's labeled clock/odo.

I have checked the wires and they are tight,I also took the fuel tank back off and checked all the connectors to make sure one didn't get loose when I did the rockers.I installed a new battery when I picked up the bike.I will now check the fuse and circuit breaker.
