Hi All,

I have a 2000 X1 that I bought used last year. I put a lot of work into it so far replacing gaskets, replacing broken brackets, and enjoying the rides. Oil/Trans/Air Filter/Fuel Filter all replaced.

The problem is my neutral light. The bike shifts to neutral fine but the light does not stay on while in neutral. The light comes on when I first shift to neutral then shuts off. Is the pin on the shift drum broken or could the switch need cleaning or replacement?

Any ideas? Thanks for the help

Also, does anyone have the part number for the Buell pro seat, the derby cover with the Pegasus logo, or the grill that fits in the sub frame?

Here is an image of the derby cover and grill I was talking about. I know its on the millennium edition X1. Where can I buy these online or find the HD/Buell part number?

Also where can you get the PM wheels and could you put XB wheels on the X1?

Sounds like the neutral light switch, or maybe a problem in the wiring. You could try cleaning it before you replace it.

As far as those parts, none of them are being made anymore AFAIK. Best place to find them is on ebay or here but they are becoming increasingly more rare and expensive. I doubt any dealers have any of these parts left, maybe someone with access to HDnet could check for you. Someone else should have the pn's for you though.

It is possible to put XB wheels on a tuber. For the rear you just need spacers, for the front there's several options, from brackets and spacers to a front end swap. Best place for aftermarket parts is American Sport Bike Great Service and they know their stuff.

How bout some pics? And welcome to the madness!

buellistic gave you those part numbers because this is a symptom of the retaining clip (that holds the detent plate onto the shifter pins/drum) being broken. If the only problem is getting the neutral light to stay on then it may not be this issue. However, if you are having problems with the bike changing gears (feels like it clicks into the next gear but is in a false neutral or something) it probably is this problem. I think this thread
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/479531.html
details what we are referring to. I just fixed this problem on my bike. This first thing I noticed was the problem you are having. If it is the clip you can probably pull the primary drain plug to figure it out. If it is the broken clip, more than likely, it will be on the drain plug. It is an easy way to check for that problem without having to remove the primary cover. But if it is the neutral switch the primary cover is going to have to come off anyway.

00x1.. my 2000 model x1 developed the same problem soon after I bought it. The neutral sensor on the right side of the tranny went bad and I've had no problems since replacing it.

As for the buell accessories - it's hard to find that type of stuff for these tubers. The tailscreens are still available new from a dealer. The select seats are up on eBay fairly often - I believe you can still buy one with yellow trim new from a dealer but all other colors are out of stock. As for the pegasus derby covers - good luck! They do show up on eBay from time to time but are pretty high priced since they're so rare.

Sorry I don't have part numbers for any of those parts. I can probably look through my receipts and find the PN# later for the tailscreens.. maybe someone else can help with PN#s for the seat and derby cover.

Talk to Nate at Beartooth HD/Buell. They're a relatively new sponsor here and Nate was really good at tracking down old parts for me while I was rebuilding my '02.

buellistic is correct......I was pleasantly surprised to see that at least the hd bastards had a national cross reference search from dealer to dealer. Getting part numbers is the hardest thing.

Pegasus cover is obsolete, I checked. I would love to find one of these and have it painted black.

Thanks a lot guys you were a lot of help.
I'm going to try and hunt down as much of the stuff as I can I'm sure some dealer off somewhere has what I'm looking for.

I'll replace the neutral switch and see what happens, too.

Again Thanks A Lot

At one time I had issues with my neutral light to come on or stay on, etc., and it turned out to be loose connector behind the neutral light on the dash. Probably not your issue but just another thing to check and rule out.
