Just purchased a 2000 Buell X1 to go with the other 3 Buells in the garage. It is the racing stripe red that originally got me interested in Buells.

Now comes the questions, first off who makes a rear fender eliminator for them cause that thing is awful sticking out there. Next what if any are the common problems with these bikes. My other 3 Buells have been trouble free (xb9s, xb12ss and 1125r). Just wanting to know of any problems I need to look for.

Thanks
Jimmy

American Sport Bike has a CF undertail, plate holder and everything else you need to get rid of the stock fender. You could chop it yourself, but they CF undertail is one of the biggest improvements to the bike (other than breadbox/scoop removal) IMHO. You'll see some cheaper CF undertails on ebay but I've yet to read anything positive about them (or any cheap CF product for that matter). If you want some pics of it on the bike PM me.

Also check your serial number at the dealer to make sure you have the updated shock. It was recalled for some '00 X1s. If applicable, you will qualify for a new shock. I did.

Good info Kalali, I will check it out tomorrow. I live 1/4 mile from a great Buell dealership.

Beautiful bike, the red stripe is a favorite of mine, also a big fan of the stock scoops. But I'm kinda funny that way.

Suspension, mostly upgrading the Showa shock will give you some of the best bang for the buck on a tuber. Either a rebuild by a experienced shop (RaceTech, Aftershocks, I think there's one other) or a Works or Penske.

Others will chime in with more X1 specific info.

It is number 273, there is one in New Hampshire for sale on craigslist that is #237 for 4150. I like the looks of the exhaust you are running what type is it and how does it perform?

it is the infamous force exhaust. it has no insides to it, so it is basically a straight open pipe and sounds like so. it is loud and i love it, i can vibrate paint cans off the shelves in my garage. it is pricey and prone to cracking if incorrectly installed. try ot stay in the 300 dollar range for a slip on. oh an my 700 doallar exhaust pipe has almost all of the jet coating flaking off after 2 years of riding
