Modified my exhaust to make it a little louder. When riding my seat seemed to be a little hotter than usual. If the bike seems hotter than usual does that mean its running lean? How do I know if she's running to hot. Will the engine temp switch shut it down if she gets to hot?

Thanks guys,

Lean will create more heat. I'm not so sure your butt thermometer will be accurate enough to notice. You can get an oil plug with a temp gauge in it or get an electronic one for your dash. You would need something to compare it with before the mod so it's too late for that.

What did you do to make the exhaust louder and what exhaust was it before you did surgery?

Does your bike pop on deceleration more now? How about any hiccup while accelerating? Those are indications of lean.

I popped a hole in the side of the stock cyclone exhaust to give it a little more grunt. Sounds a lot better. Before I did the mod it would hiccup on decel but it had the stock 42 slow jet, I did the exhaust mod and put in the 45 slow jet.

She seemed to run great just seemed hotter than before.

Do you have any intake mods or is it stock? You might want to up the main a bit and turn the air/fuel screw to 2.5 out. When you put it all the way in do it very gently.

you have to do a plug check (color) to see
if it is lean

Air intake is all stock at the moment.
Air/fuel screw is at 2.5 already.

I was thinking about changing the air intake somehow just cause it is a pain to put back together.

Next time I take her for a ride I'll read the plugs, I was just wondering if the bike being hotter than normal would be an indicator. I may have just never noticed it before tho : )

Thanks,

Like stated above; If it pops or backfires while decelerating you'll know for sure your running lean, Check plugs!
