I did the same search and everyone told me install a stand alone ign. like crane or dyna. The module looks like a twincam module, I was wondering if anyone tried to match them up terminal to terminal?

They also change the timing curve and the advance in higher RPM.

Just do a search on the part # in google and E-bay.

Dave,
I'm not so sure about that.
Back in the day there was a bunch of dyno testing done, no curve change was noted. Just the soft limiter at the top was gone.

22 dealers show them in stock in various areas around the US. Check with your local dealer and have them run a search for 91438-01Y, which my '01 catalog shows as the perf. module for an '01 M2. I'm guessing the same part fits '02, but don't have an '02 book. List price is showing as $151.

The catalog lists it as "increases rev limits of stock module / maintains low and mid-range precision of original ignition module".

I have the 2002 Parts and Accessories Catalog, and the Race module for the 2002 M2 is not in there. It's the cartridge style (no plug protruding from the module itself).

P/N 91438-01Y will not work on 2002's because of that.

Edit:
Ratbuell, is the picture you're showing have the plug coming out of it? Because the one I have does.
Run this updated part number and see what comes back:

N1306.01A3 is the P/N on my Race Ignition for my 02 M2.

The '01 module shows a pigtail connector, not chassis/box mounted plug. Should work.

The N1306.01A3 part number comes up as invalid, not only on h-dnet but also in our inventory, which keeps any part number ever issued or used in the listing. Sorry - sure you wrote it correctly? Nothing even matching as far as "N13" - it brings up a null field.

Joe,

Here's a pic of the part number on the ignition that I run.

Funny thing though, on the box that it came in, is the 91438-01Y.

Obviously, from the pic in the Parts & Accessories catalog, to the pic I have of mine, doesn't match does it?

Just took this pic of my Race Ignition for a 2002 M2:

Guess I need to dig into the wife's M2. The book shows the '01 box having a pigtail connector, only one. Yours - obviously - has 2 and they're mounted to the chassis (which I always thought of as EFI control). Hmmmm....and I dunno what's up with the part number - not like you could misread that one!

The '02 is a red-headed stepchild like my XL1200S is. I dunno if the '02 M2 has a VOES switch or MAP sensor, but my '03 XL sport has a MAP sensor instead of a VOES, and has a twin-plug ignition module like the one shown. Obviously they aren't the same because my XLS was dual-plugged from the factory, but an interesting observation none the less.
