anyone seen a decent windscreen that would go on and off easily for an x1. Same question for a sissy bar. Basically touring gear that goes on easily and comes off easily once you reach your destination. Like riding to the tail of the dragon...pop off the touring gear, put it in the hotel, Go rip up the dragon!!..any suggestions? | ||

Tank, tail and saddle bags. More than enough room for me to pack for a week long trip for one. | ||

I have the corbin sport saddlebags and tail bag, well made more than enough room for a week's ride and easy on and off. | ||

are those items for sale anymore. tail bag wont do as there will most likey be a woman on the tail...which is what the sissy bar is for, as well as the windscreen.. | ||

I am running Nelson-Rigg CL series bags. Had all but the tank bag 3yrs now and they still look brand new. Even with my girl on the back we are able to pack enough for 3-4 days. (But shes been on enough trips to know what to and what not to bring.) Have you checked on the Corbin seats? They make a model which has a back rest option. | ||

I'll be riding my x1 comfortably 1000 miles to homecoming. I've found that dropping the headlight/windscreen clamps all the way to the bottom triple tree works well. Keeps any turbulence below your helmet and the wind on your chest actually helps lessen wrist fatigue from leaning forward on the highway. As for bags I've got the buell tank and saddlebags as well as firstgear onyx tail and saddlebags. Ill be using the firstgear saddlebags instead of the buell bags to go to homecoming as they're considerably larger. You can buy them at sportbiketrackgear.com. I'm sure a touring bike is more comfortable but if you keep yourself mentally positive then 500 mile days are no problem on an x1. Just stay hydrated and use some medicated goldbond on your "seat" occasionally when that particular area starts going to sleep  | ||

thanks...i really like that corbin seat and these bags have been great...I dont really want a touring bike because 99 percent of my riding will not be touring. but for that one percent of the time long trip i want to make the most of it. | ||

You mean you'd do something like this ?  Thats the ventura bike pack, which comes off and leaves 2 well hidden brackets, It's tough to see in the picture, but there is a 9x6 tent and 2 fabric chairs (full size behind the pack)  This is a better picture of the bike and the back. You could also add a second bag to the back of the pack making it enormous. I rode with all this stuff from Rochester, NY to Deal's Gap (Message edited by mbsween on May 31, 2009) | ||

Check out this rig for a sissy bar/tail bag http://www.ventura-bike.com/ Easy on easy off and no bungee or strapping bags to the seat. Works great 2 up as well! Just make sure you don't overload the bike. There is at least one long thread concerning the front isolator crapping out multiple times before the guy figured out his girlfriend was too fat to ride or was it that he had 100 pounds of gear with his girl friend? I can't remember. | ||

Nothin' wrong with an X1 for touring, oh, Corbin seat compulsory though for comfort.  | ||

2401 miles in the past week on my '02 X1. No problems to speak of.. I've never ridden on a Corbin seat but the Select seat seems to be comfortable enough for me. Notice that the brackets holding the headlight and windscreen are sitting all the way down on the lower triple tree. IMO that's the most comfortable position for it since you're not going to get the wind all the way over your helmet on an X1. I greatly prefer letting it hit me in the chest and take weight off my wrists rather than buffet my head around. Besides, windshields are for pussies         (didn't get pics of the IL, WI, or OK state signs) | ||
