just the other day i was reading about how the force exhaust cracks and this and that and thought wow am i lucky , well here today i was driving and heard this tinny sound and sure enough its cracked right by the front mount and around the other side i can t tell for sure if the coating is cracked or if its going around, and so now i had all these plans for riding alot this weekend and don t know if i have the time or money to fix right away is it bad to drive like this??? i was thinking of getting it sandblasted and then welded up i suppose and get it coated in black, but what are the chances of this keeping to crack even after a weld job?? and i also am noticing oil on the voltage regulator also but can t see excatly where its coming from.

Your profile says '02 model year, but no bike type, is that the year bike you bought then? If so you should have the right hanger... Have you got the "Y" exhaust hanger? The one it replaced was just a flat plate with a rubber bushing.

That would help keep from breaking again when you get the pipe welded.

Many broken exhaust parts can be traced to that hanger.

Getting the pipe welded should be fine.

Probably ought to replace the hanger when you have the money, the new one doesn't allow as much vibration to pass through to the exhaust pipe.

Has anyone tried cutting a force pipe in the same general area that a stock header and muffler would connect, then welding on a larger diameter collector and attaching the two pieces this way? I would think that a joint in the exhaust system would provide a little flexibility and prevent a lot of the longevity issues that seem to plague the force pipes.

If I can find a broken force pipe cheap enough, I'd like to test the theory on my S3 build.

There are countless threads about it...Prebs, questions like these, should be posted in the Old School part, you'll get more answers...I've told you that before, this is more for Cyclone specific...I have a Cyclone, and I don't check this nearly as much as Old School. Trust me. Now ask around or search around for the last thread on the Force Pipe cracking and the remedy used, though I would recommend first getting an updated Y hanger.
