On my pants. Right side, the whole right side of the bike. 200 hundred miles and the right side of the bike is wet. Seems like a breather issue to me. Any suggestions? I haven't gotten mt manual yet!

BUELLers:

FIRST of all you do should not run the head breathers into the INTAKE, "BUT" into a CATCH CONTAINER !!!

Second, if you over fill your oil tank, the oil will puke out the head breathers into the air cleaner and then on to the right side of your bike including your right leg ...

The OEM BUELL oil system is a 2 1/2 quart oil system if not modified to hold more oil ...

The PROPER way to check the oil in your oil tank is after a good ride(operating temperature), on the side stand, with the engine running ...

THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AN AIR SPACE IN THE OIL TANK, THE EXCESS OIL WILL PUKE OUT OF THE ENGINE SOME WHERE, ie: air cleaner, weeping base gaskets, and/or any other gasket !!!

MAY THE LONG LASTING BUELL BE WITH YOU !!!

www.AmericanSportBike.com should have what you need ...

"i" have an S3T so "i" did the "ECONO" catch container thing and used a BLACK 20W50 qt oil container putting it behind my license plate ...

Thanks. So if I understand it, the stock setup is to run the breather tubing into the intake to burn the escaping oil?

Blazing_saddle:

That is the way they come from the FACTORY ...

Run the BREATHERS into a catch container ...

If you want to lubricate your valve guides, run 1.75 OZ. "STP" per gallon in your gasoline every 5K miles ...

Thank you Buellistic but I think I will first try to get the stock arrangement to work better. I like the burn it up concept better than catch it in a bottle concept. Has anyone tried an oil maze?

My bike used to get more blow-by when I over filled the oil. You know to only check and fill oil when the motor is hot?

You can modify your stock rocker boxes by removing the umbrella valve and drilling the opening up a little larger. This allows the oil to drain back better.

Or you can replace your two upper sections of rocker box cover with a single XB part, this allows you to move the vent breathers to pcv valves on the top of the motor, Buellistic did the same with Blast covers before we all caught on a few years later.

Feeding the oil mist back into your intake will eventually make a mess of the gaskets on your stock airbox, and the breather lines will need to be rerouted if you ever change out your intake.

Thanks for that. I'm more for taking stuff off the bike than hanging more stuff on the bike!
