Anyone happen to know the thread pattern on the M2 seat screws? I have a new piece being made for one of my Corbin's since it stripped out (don't want to sell it with a stripped piece).

I forgot to send the screw with the piece so he could make it.

Any ideas? Thanks!

The seat stud for S3s and X1s are 7/16x20 National Fine I would assume the M2 are the same.

Hmmm.

That is a good question, I wonder if they are the same. Because the M2 has a screw I have to screw into the seat. I thought (I know I'm wrong, but this is how I understood the X1's anyways, and is why I am asking you), is that there is just a hook type thing that held the seat to the frame.

Part number used to be :

52318-96Y KNURLED SCREW, SEAT

Can't find a pic of it, I'll try to get one.

I have a seat screw out in the garage somewhere, how do I measure it get the thread size?

Well, I googled and I'll read through some of this to see if this can help me figure it out:

Do you have to thread the screw in and out every time you remove and replace the seat on an M2?

Never had the seat off an M2 myself.

X1s and S3s have a threaded stud with a groove cut in it and operate in the same manner as a car/truck hood latch.

X1s you turn a key under the tail and S3s you pull a T handle under the left side body work to unlatch the seat.

Yes. Every freaking time. And it backs out and falls out while riding. That's not a fun feeling.

Do something like Al did for the Firebolt seat.

To get the thread size measure the OD of the thread, then count how many threads are in 1 inch. If the thread is not a least an inch long then use 1/2" and multiple the count by two.

Any automotive store or Lowe's should have a thread gauge. I picked up a thread gauge like this http://www.specialtycarpartscanada.com/images/thre ad_gauge.jpg from Fastenal. I'll check my seat screw when I get home.

I've been all over mine lately, except for the seat. I think(with a near useless memory) that it has a strange course threaded tapered screw. It may not have a normal sounding thread size. If I can slip away I'll go look.
Last time it was screwed in, I went one way and the seat went the other, but I THINK the screw is still there.

Here's what us M2 guys have to screw in/out to get our seat off. There's gotta be a mod to put a latch in..

Is 12 threads per inch mean anything?

What's the OD on it? The smallest common size with 12 TPI is 9/16-12.

The size I gave you is machine screw size-what most bolts are. I agree with Gowindward, it looks like an acme thread.

Nutz, that's whats called a quick-action captive fastener or a fast-lead thread screw.

The threads travel twice as fast a standard threads and resist cross threading with the quick start end.

Normally they are used with a receptacle type nut like the clip nuts used for mounting fender panels and such in the automotive industry.

6035y......nylon washer
11510y.....retaing ring
