Typically speaking, how far do you go or how much fuel do you use before you have to switch to reserve on an RS? Seems like about 2 gallons when I have to switch. Is this normal?

I hit about 90-95 miles and hit the switch.

I have been known to stretch it and hear THAT tell tale cough. Then switch it and start looking hard for a gas stop.
