Month/year should be on the sticker on the frame. I don't know that actual day-date is tracked anywhere other than factory documents, unless someone saved the sticker off the shipping crate.... |

>>>I don't know that actual day-date is tracked anywhere other than factory documents, The factory tracks EVERYTHING including the order in which every part when on, the number of degrees of rotation that fasteners went through to torque and all (that's every single one) torque settings. |

Court, how long are those documents kept? Is it just during the build or kept for X amount of time and can those documents be obtained? Would be neat to have with the bike just for personal wants. |

They are kept forever as part of the ongoing quality initiative and for management. There are times that a problem with a bike can, because of good records and knowing that a part on bike number XXX came from order YYY received on a certain date allows an isolated problem to be nailed down to perhaps or 3 bikes and caught early. Best example of this was the old Buell rear shock recall. There were probably less than 5 shocks that we ever of concern . . problem was that one of the supplies had failed to keep really good records and so everything had to get recalled. In fact, many of the folks who've bought Buells from back in 1980's are always thrilled when I send them their "build sheets" that were done by hand in those days. The various stations on the line at Buell use tools (many of you have seen them on tours) that are all connected to the server. So when, as an example, an axle gets tightened, it's easy to see who did it, what time of day, how many degrees total rotation and final torque. Really cool stuff. |

Is there any way to obtain/buy these records? I would love to have them just for sentimental reasons since I am planning to get buried with my bike...Of course not while I am still alive! |

>>>Is there any way to obtain/buy these records? There really isn't. It'd be a full time job just keeping up with requests and then explaining them. |
