american sportbike sells one. i no there pretty safe to have on there but is it worth the money and if it is, is there anyone else that sells one that mite be more reasonable priced.

There aren't too many options for us. Yes, it helps a TON.

I recommend installing one.

Once in awhile you can find them on ebay, but it's very, once in awhile.

they have some universal ones on ebay all the time for cheap but you would have to make some kind of bracket for it.

My used bike came with a Storz one, and I took it off. It slowed down the steering too much for a twisty back road I like, and even on city streets. I always ran it at the lowest setting. I don't notice it missing, at 100 mph on the two-lane blacktop, since I took it off. It did provoke questions from passers-by, and it looks pretty cool.
I'm not convinced they are worth what they cost, unless you're racing or high speed a lot.

Helps a ton. I do just fine in the twisties (when I find them) with it on.

Got shake on the highway doing 80ish and thats when I get one...Took it off after riding with it for awhile, and couldn't stand it...


Wish I would have remembered this thread, I would have pm'ed ya Migs since I just sold my Hyperpro...

Yeah, 80ish is the same speed cue for my bike to start a head shake, an especially nervous thing when I take a turn at that speed and she starts to go (I run low bars so my weight is already forward).

Ran my damper only a few clicks in on the track and it took care of things for me, doesn't impede steering at all turned all the way down.

Still, I'm wondering if getting my front end suspension reworked will help kill the head-shake too. Having it sorted is supposed to help out quite a bit, that and having the wheels aligned...

Never had a problem with headshakes at any speed ,only once when the front got light
over a rise and came down on some rough bits with the steering not quite square.
Suspension settings help a lot with this.

Unlike the Jap bikes,Buell designed their bike superbly and need no steering dampner at any speed,Eric Buell talked about this at Homecoming in 2007.Most guys put them on because they look COOL..........not because they are needed.If the Japs could build a bike that doesnt need one,they wouldnt put one on.

Er, well mine needed it. Perhaps once I get my front end professionally tuned it won't. I prefer to keep the weight off my bike as much as possible.

But my bike does look pretty cool, damper or no.

If you get a shake at high speeds check the bearings in the triple trees, they are probly loose or worn out. At 150 mine goes straight as an arrow. I also have my tires balanced too.

for my bike it is very narrow window, 81-85 indicated speed and it develops a headshake/wobble.

If any thing my head bearings are too tight, so they could have worn some flats spots or something.

I really need to put heavier springs in the forks, then either gold valves or custom valving and replace seals as they are starting to seep. So hopefully once they are set up for me properly the damper will just be bling, not sure I'll want to test this on the track though

After reading this I tried at various speeds sort of shaking the bars to see what happened. 75 80 90 nothing. So don't know why by I don't seem to have any headshake on my Cyclone. Certainly nothing that would make me spend $250+ on a stabilizer. And I do like gizmos, gadgets, and farkles.
Could be I do have fairly new tires, front and rear, both spun balanced when installed.
