Well, after a couple years of thought, a year of actually doing homework, and about two days of discussion on Badweb, I've registered the domain names for the Buell Registry. It will be a few days before a site is up and running for information submission, and probably alot longer to slog though HD's massive legal department, but it is happening. I registered both TheBuellRegistry.com (as if there could be any other ; ) ) and TheBuellRegistry.org but I'm not sure yet which I'll actually use. I will not be making money on this registry, so I thought ".ORG", but then I realized I may have to charge for some services later on so as not to go broke, and ".COM" is what everyone thinks of, so I got both. I've had multiple inputs from many Badwebber's already (Thanks to all of you!) and I'd like offer some generic answers to repeat questions (and hopefully incur MORE FEEDBACK). Yes, it's worldwide. Buells, Buell owners, and Buell enthusiasm is worldwide, so the registry shall be too. (Any ideas on language translation?) Yes, it's for ALL Buell motorcycle models. If somebody calls me with a guitar, bicycle, box of accessories, etc, they will be documented as well. Yes, it will be as secure as possible. I do intend to keep every bike on a secure server, and NO Owner info will be sold, given away, traded, lost, mishandled or transferred to anyone else, ever, unless OK'd by that owner. Every VIN is going to require at least three forms of documentation, that will stay on file permanently. I will try to make as much information as possible as verifiable as possible, and only FACTS will be touted as "information". If it can't be PROVEN, it will be labeled as such. (in other words, no "Viper" edition X1's!) Yes, I will ALWAYS be open to input, and the Registry will always be open to modification due to input. Please input a "reason" for suggestion (In other words, don't tell me to put "titties" on the registry images, unless you specify "Naked girls on Buells" images.) That brings another point. I'd like to include a registry for accessories (preferably Buell, but more popular ones are possible, too) so an owner can say, 'I know where this came from, and that, and that....' when they're assessing their bike. I'd also like to include the rich Buell history of promotional material, images, etc. This will be in addition to the registry, but the registry will be a primary focus. In other words (again), it's impossible to celebrate all Buells without looking at the diversity. Suppose you go to buy a heavily modded Buell. Is it historically significant, or is it a hack job? It's easy to lose the history on a bike, so we hope to get those questions answered for you. My goals will be outlined for the Registry as a whole shortly. Thanks for your help, and your advice, -John Self |

Maybe there will finally be a place to look up all sorts of past Buell decals and badges! Anxiously waiting.. |

Due to an unforeseen family emergency, I am going to have to put my efforts toward a Buell Registry on hold indefinitely. I have released the two domain names that I had, if anyone else wishes to pursue this. I offer my apologies to those that have contributed advice and information thus far. -John |
