while working on the front lights of my x-1 yesterday i noticed that the front end of my bike seems to have all the mounts and spaces to setup dual brakes on the front end.
can this be done or has this been done and if so can someone send me pictures???

I think Firemanjim can address that. Expensive and very unnecessary from what I've heard. You have to reeeaally be braking hard to need them, the you're over braking the tire...that's bad.

There is a race mod that uses two calipers but as Jstfrfun stated it is overkill. One of Buells strong points are it's front brake. Give an unexpected stoppie a try and see if you still need the extra rotating mass of another disk.

The 95 Buell that was tested by a magazine had dual rotors, for an hour. They had said it was suicidal to have that much there.......

But I'm sure if you found a weaker master cylinder for the front you might be able to tone her down a bit. You would NEVER get fade! LOL

Buells made the 10 best braking bikes in the world!

There is no reason to put another disk/caliper on unless it's for show or race - and if you're serious about racing then you wouldn't be racing a Buell...

Let me guess . . . . a quote from the 4 Ducati's that followed Shawn, on the Buell, across the finish line last week.

Tough to put much stock in it . . . it was hard to see the Buell from that far back.

Brembo once made a setup that would give you a "safer" boost in stoppage with less fade, but it was pretty pricey as well. It required their 12.6" rotors and two 4-pot calipers. Would be more cost-effective I think to buy a front end from a Ducati Monster off eBay and sell the Buell one to a redneck chopper guy. The older ones had Brembo wheels that look identical to our Buell or Marchesini wheels. You'd have to machine the trees to accept a 1" neck, but that's about it. Just my $.02.
