Ok...

I am having a SLIGHT exhaust pop on DECELERATOIN only.

It is CONSISTANT but ONLY does it when coming off the throttle to decelerate.

MY S3 has the FULL Buell race system as well.

Any help as to what may be causing this would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt.

Mm128:

Crank it up in the dark to see if one or more of the header gaskets are leaking ...

AND look around the head gaskets while looking, good time just to do this ...

If happens to be the problem, replace both with GASKET,exhaust port PN 17048-98 ...

The 65324-83A are HARLEY-DAVIDSON "CRAP" !!!

While you are checking for LEAKS, check your intake manifold seals ...

If leaking, replace with SEAL,intake manifold PN 26995-86B ...

It does NOT appear to be EITHER of these...

Any other suggestions...

Could it be a jet problem from the carb???

I KNOW its a 99... but it was COMPLETELY setup for a Carb setup...

Matt.

matt,
it had that decel pop when it was fuel injected with the race ecm too...its hard to get rid of with that race pipe.. you can put the stock pipe back on it and it will go away, along with a little power...i had richer jets in it at one time, but you lose power on the top end...i did a lot of experimenting on the jets...its got the sportster needle in it also...make sure the choke isnt easing out on you....you might want to put SE exhaust gaskets in it like buellistic said..but remember, all gaskets are brand new, so it shouldnt need anything.. good luck..

I kinda figured it was the exhaust.

Its NO problem.. just wanted to make sure.

I remember my X1 popping... it had the same race setup.... but its been SOOOO long since i have been on the 1200 motor...

I am in LOVE with it... I guess thats ok... isnt it : )

What's the carb calibration set at now? Jets, needle height, idle mixture screw turns?

Did the problem just start or has it always been like this?

Make sure that you have no exhaust leaks. Good seals at the heads. Seal the header to muffler joint with high temp RTV that is O2 safe. Then read your plugs. But mikuni has said that it is normal to have lite popping during deceleration.
