My stock tail light lens fell off last night during a ride. I retraced my route this morning but did not find it. Does anyone here have a spare or know of a replacement source other than the dealer or e-bay?

Thanks, Bob

When and if you get a new one, don't tighten it down too much. I've gone through 2 so far. The last one I put on I looked up through the clear license plate lens and tightened the screws until the lens boss just touched boss on the housing. Haven't had a lens fall off since.

Thanks 5liter. That makes sense. Did your lens screws strip the plastic holes they go into?
Mine did and I had glued them both in place with carpenters glue - for ease of removal -Obviously it got too easy and they removed themselves! I was keeping an eye on screw movement, except for the moment it moved onto the pavement at speed!

I am thinking I'll fill the screw holes with epoxy and re-drill the holes to match the screw size and let the screws "self tap" the epoxy/plastic. Do you have any experienced suggestions on that?

Mine are stripped too and I almost lost my lens.

I cut a small piece of safety wire and put it in the screw holes to take up space and give the screw something to "bite" into.

It's been about a month and it hasn't loosened a bit.

Xodot:
I had mine too tight and the lens cracked around the screws, both times. Never had the screws strip the holes. Make sure you've got the gasket that goes around the tail light body.

You have to buy the whole tail light assembly to get the lens.

My S2 has one hole that's stripped out. RatBuell told me at Homecoming that he just drilled his all the way through and used a long bolt with a nut. No falling off!

That is a simple and beautiful solution that would have continued to elude me - no wonder I love this board!

I also added a thin strip of sticky one sided foam tape to the bottom of the lens were it rubs on the tail section and vibrates...The foam stopped the shakin and vibrating...Hb

If you strip out the hole just slide a small cable tye in the boss and cut it off then put it back together, the tie is soft plastic and it will mold to the screws just fine.
