Greetings from sunny Cleveland: My 2000 S3 is finally done, home, and ready for the road. However, it came with what looks like a factory tank bra (blue Pegasus stitched into the fabric) which was removed by the Tech when he installed the race ECM, and was not replaced, at my direction, as I was having the whole bike buffed out by my painter. Now it comes time to re-install the bra, and I'm stumped. I know that this isn't rocket science, and that the brass grommet at the seat edge of the thing is where the tank bolt goes through. My problem is how does the other (wide or front) side go over the tank? It has an elastic band that fits around the tank about half way up, but I'm not sure if it slides from the rear of the tank forward, or the front of the tank (after disconnecting the vent hose), back. I've installed them on other bikes both ways, and I don't feel like pulling something loose on this one. Who knows for sure?

Thanks,
DW

Just loop it over the "horn" on the front of the gas tank (requires tank R&R). There should be some clips with velcro that go on the edge of the rear "bodywork". It helps a little bit with the heat coming from the rear cylinder. I'm going to try some reflective tape or "Reflect-A-Cool" from Motosport.com, if it will fit inside the plastic body. Your elastic will get "cooked", soon enough, and lose all elasticity.
