Hi,
I am thinking about selling my buell X1 lightning, but I am having difficulty finding out information about it. It is a limited edition, with #19 / 100 painted on the tank. Can anyone please tall me anything about this bike color scheme? I am trying to find out a fair price, but have never seen a color scheme like it. Please help- thanks
D~

If it helps, I know this bike was ordered from Las vegas Harley Davidson, in this color scheme

What did they say about it?

I am unaware of any paint jobs like that being offered by the factory... but I don't know everything.

Thanks for responding, All they said is that the bike was delivered to the dealership in this color scheme, some how the one who ordered it never fully purchased the bike, so it stayed on the floor and was later purchased by a guy in Flordia with 21 miles on it, (who I bought the bike from), he added the carbon fiber pieces, and modifications. it now has 2300 miles, and that is all I know. The buell logo by the limited number makes it apear factory- maybe a special order kit from the factory?

from what i remember, the bodywork was a factory accessory, a dealer may have put it together that way, but i don't recall any delivered as such.

I have seen that paint job before. It was a custom set offered from the factory. there was also a red/brick custom paint set for the X1. I have seen your set on ebay and in person in the past, not sure how much it would bring up the value of the bike. If anything, the colors may limit potential buyers as not everyone is crazy about the scheme. I know Hal's HD in Milwaukee had that set for sale for a loooooong time. On the other hand, I haven't seen one for sale in awhile so who knows. Although not my style, I always thought it was pretty cool myself.

Hi, this bike has the limited edition "Radical" paint set. You could get it from he factory at the time. Was like 2000$. Really expensive. I have #9. In 06 I bought my 2002 X1 with this set and 3K miles for $3800. I thought that was a great deal. Let me know how much you want for yours. I am collecting ; )

"... but I don't know everything."

See? I told you! I'm thinking that's going to be one valuable Buell sometime in the future... you'd have to find someone who is really into Buells to get serious scratch out of it right now.

But then again... I don't know everything.

It's funny... I've seen the rarer paint job before myself, but never the other one.

Never had a clue it was from the factory.

I agree with Sleez, I think they were offered afterwards and not actually on the bike when shipped.

But I have been wrong on several other occasions.

That is a rare factory accessory since there were only 100 ever made but I don't think it would increase the value much if any. The bike market is a buyers market right now it seems.

Couldn't you post the VIN for someone to look up and verify what the original color was. That would answer it once and for all.

also, if it were me selling the bike, i would buy stock parts, and put it to stock, take that limited paint set put it in a box, and put it in the rafters of my garage.... for later sale.......or just sell it to me so i can do that.

Funny, I saw that brick-pavement looking one before too.
I thought the owner just did it up.

Buying that bike for $3800 seems incredible to me. Any special edition should command a higher price.
The shot of your bike looks better than any other I have seen. Put a premium asking price on it and wait to se if you can find "the" buyer for your special. If you can't then sell to the folks that are interested here.

Good luck

Thanks everyone for the responces, I agree $3800 seems quite low to me as well. It has about $3500 worth of up grades, with every carbon fiber piece you can get, and only 2300 miles, not a scratch on it. Regular X1's with 10k miles are ranging between 4000- 4800 on ebay. So I was still thinking higher than that, but now looking into all the info you guys gave me, I am thinking about keeping it. Thanks again
D~

like he said, take the paint set off and sell it separately... being that its an add on, it may help your bike sell faster, but rarely for more money... ive been that route many times on my harleys... add ons are usually donations when it comes to selling a used bike...

You could even spend another $3500 and get all the carbon available for it. That would lighten it up considerably.

But you should keep it as is. Nice bike.

If you can, keep it. As I experienced with my S3T, the remorse you experience when you sell your favorite tuber just isn't worth it.

In the process of farkling an X1 right now, and this one is never leaving the garage.

The paint sets were a dealer installed item, not a production line piece.

Very nice looking bikes!
