does anybody know what the travel is for a 2000 x1 steering damper? i can piece one together with a universal, but i need to know what the travel length is.

you mean right lock to left lock travel?

yes, i guess i could do that myself huh. can i just pick a point to measure from, then turn the bars all the way to one side and then measure to the other stop?

Sure, but if it helps I've got 13 1/8" travel in my Storz damper from full left to full right - withOUT frame bumpers.

That's only as exact as my 12' Stanley tape, I do have X1 forks on my bike so that should be pretty well what you need.
