Remove the wire connect from the switch and seal the end of it so it can't run to ground. The light will be out. If it isn't, somewhere along the wires length it is shorting to ground. If the light comes on at anytime, be it permanent or intermittent, it is shorting to ground. If after a period of time the light remains out whilst the wire is disconnected, then the switch MUST be at fault. It might b e worth checking the neutral light bulb holder too in case the holder is at fault, but I doubt it can be never mind could be, given it's pretty much all plastic around it. Rocket | ||

Good luck, but see the other thread too where someone had a problem with the bulb display? I don't remember mine as an LED but maybe by 2002, or even your model, they were. Rocket | ||

My problem involved the connector which is located between the starter and the cam cover. The connector had come loose but was still touching....intermittantly. So when I'd turn the ignition on (in neutral)-no light/no start. Squeeze the clutch in; starts right up. Shut it down-surprise! The neutral light is on. WTF? Well all it was, was the loose connection. Plugged it in; works great! Check yours if you still have problems. |
