Just looking for someone who may know what to do about this. I have a 99 X1 with a broken ignition cylinder (or whatever the place where the key goes is called), it has been at the local dealership for almost 1 1/2 months waiting on the parts from Buell. The dealership is OK, they are friendly and don't mind working on Buells, but they aren't real good on letting me know what the heck is going on with my bike. Last week the cylinder (and all the other locks) was supposed to ship Mon. Well, today it won't ship until next week.
I know this is getting long winded, but short and simple, does anyone know where else I can get what I need (any other dealership or aftermarket)? I hate to watch the rest of the riding season slip away so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Your only other option is to call the factory. Dont be afraid to do it!!!!!!!!! I would let the factory know that this is a " DOWNED BIKE EMERGENCY " When a bike is down at the dealer along time ago it got special attention from the factory and the dealer. New part guys havent heard that term in along time.

Thats the worst part of your problem. Didnt you pay enough for your bike? Do you deserve to be treated this way?

I ordered a full set of keys, locks & ignition switch for my '99 S3 including the saddle bags & seat lock, all keyed to my current/original number; so my original keys still work. Got 'em mailed to my house in 4 weeks. This took place last week. My Buell parts guy is an ace. There are other Buell parts folks on this board who I'm sure will help. I'm in NH. I'll turn you on to my parts guy if you want to go that direction.

Tunes, I may take you up on that. I am going to try talking to the service manager tomorrow and get him to take a little more active interest in getting my bike out of their shop. After that, I will definitely try calling the factory myself.
I'm starting to think this is a conspiracy to get me to buy that Uly I have been eyeing for so long.

Wo -- I got a new ignition switch with keys from Daves in 1 point 5 weeks . . . this was just a couple of weeks ago . . . call him, have the parts drop shipped to you, and take em on in -- or, install it yerself (10 minute job with a coffee and boy's room break)

Hey guy's thanks for all the support and good info. Turns out the dealership just needed a little motivation. They "found" the parts yesterday at another dealership and got it all put back together today.
Nice folks, just a little behind the power curve. Not to mention that in 7 years and 10,000 miles (I know that's not much, but I am gone a lot) this is the first major problem I have had. Can't complain too much about that.
Thanks again everyone.

Ignition switches need to be ordered differently than regular parts.
They are what is called a "restricted" part.
If you put them in on the regular order they will automatically be kicked off the order.
If it is like most HD/Buell dealerships they have pages of orders and it is hard to catch the kicked off parts.
They may or may not know this?
I found this out the hard way a few years ago.

Don't feel alone. I've learned most life's lessons that way.....some of them a number of times.

Happy customers thrill me!

They probably didn't know that and just sat like bumps on a log waiting for a part to show up that was never ordered. I'll mention it to them when I pick my bike up tomorrow.

You know when I started this post I figured that you or Court would be the person to ask. Like you said, sometimes you just have to find these things out the hard way.
