Does anyone have experience warping or not warping front rotors at the track? I had replaced the stock front rotor on my S3 two years ago due to pulsation. I did 5 track days with the EBC rotor and the last time out it warped bad enough to grind on the caliper. Its coned like a bellville washer now. Actually enough to push the pads back in the caliper while I was hauling down the front straight making it quite a surprise when I go to brake for turn 1 and there's nothing there! Anyway I was thinking I'd go back to stock - does anyone have any feedback on how well the stock rotor has held up for them at the track? Blake, I know you must run your M2 pretty hard, what do you use? Thanks for any and all advice.

I did 4 seasons of track days 2 - 6 days/season on my '98 S3 with the stock rotor - well, the stocker started rattling, so I replaced it with the new, updated tuber rotor. It worked great. Never had problems with fading, warping or anything else for that matter. I think that rotor is still serving Steve F just fine.

I was running EBC HH pads.

Granted I'm not one of the "fast" guys. I'm about mid-pack in the intermediate group with both TPM and NESBA.

Well worth a try and the price is certainly right : )

Thanks Henrik. I'm buying a new stock rotor today.

You're welcome Kurt.

Btw. I think Blake is running an EBC rotor on his M2? He's currently on vacation, but will probably chime in when he gets back.

EBC and stock have each served me well. I like the EBC steel better than the stainless steel stock disks now provided in place of the old iron rotors. I've found that key to being able to push hard on the track is to have fresh brake fluid, a well-bled and clean brake system, near new pads, and a rotor in good shape that is well above the throw-way thickness specification.

All good points Blake. I suppose the warping could have been caused by a pad dragging pad due to a piston not retracting fully. I'll be tearing down the caliper and freshening everything up when I install the new rotor.
