I think something is up with XLforum because it doesn't even come up by going to it the normal way.

How much is he asking?? How many miles?? What kind of shape is it in?? Any upgrades?? More info since the link is not working (right now)..

You will should get a lot of info from guys that know more than I do (not that that would be any great feat)...

Good luck.

Dogmann:

My opinion - Buell's do not hold their value. Take your time looking. Motorcycle Consumer News Summer 2006 Used Bike Value Guide suggests $3245 for a 1996 S2.

At 5500 it will be around for a while, you have time to research and ask questions. Low mileage and owner history are crucial. Being in Chicago you will see a lot of bikes in your area.

Jersey Thunder's bike prolly won't be around for long at the price.

Here is a link to a similar question to yours that produced many responses and much information on the S2 in general.

Did you ride the bike? That is the true test. The S2 didn't fit me, but the M2 did. I rode both, and others, basically any Buell model I was considering. One ride on the M2 did it for me, by the time I hit 2nd gear it felt like "my" bike. Also... after asking questions here for a while I knew what I was looking for. And at.

S2's engender near-religious fanaticism in their riders -- that said, 5500 is a bit on the high side -- there are reasons for payin that much -- huge amount of trust in the owner, who is a fanatic regarding maintenance and upgrades, lust of the moment for a 10/10 scoot, and like that

luckily for me, JerseyT is in, well, Jersey, or I would be over at his shop with a wad o cash right this very minute -- sweet ride, JT!

Bomber, THANK YOU!
just some info: the bike is 100%, i bought it just to keep, and look at...i ride it once and awhile just to show it off.. Erik Buell saw it and said it was one sweet machine, and Court said to hold on to this one!! MIKE and HAMMER have also seen it, they can vouch for it...i have another S2 i ride all the time, motor work,paint,suff..thunderheads,42 mikuni, crane fire bolt,PMs,chrome...runs really sweet...$4000.00 for that one.
the reason i'm selling one is i opened a bike shop and need the cash...i really LOVE them both..it going to hurt to sell one

Used Bike Value Guide suggests $3245 for a 1996 S2.

THE AVERAGE PRICE FOR A AVERAGE S2 IS $3500.00..TAKE IT FROM THERE..I'VE PAID MORE AND HAVE NO REGRETS..

Welcome to BadWeB Dogmann!

The book value on the S2 is a real steal in my opinion. If the bike you are looking at is in excellent condition, with that incredibly low mileage, I'd say it is a good deal. But you should be able to get the seller to come down some on price based upon market pricing. In my opinion, the S2 is a true collectors limited edition machine and unique among Buell motorcycles.
