Looks like I'm taking the ironhead to work on monday.

At least I managed to get my X1 home without a truck.
They're going to make me buy a whole throttle body assembly, aren't they?

That is the way it is done with THROTTLE BODIES ... Do not throw(old) it away, because if you can find out who makes it, as they will have a parts break down where by you can get a replacement throttle shaft ...

Who does make them?
Do you have access to that type of info?

Oh! and by the way, I didn't make it to work on the ironhead this morning either.
It got me about 5 miles out and then started to puke oil out of its breather like crazy.

So I went from having two bikes to 0 bikes in less than 24 hours!
SUX!

I got the throttlebody out and I took it apart.
(why not, right?)
Thet shaft had a lot of wear on it where it goes through the housing.
My ironhead's original carb wore out like that so I couldn't get it to idle..... at about the same amount of miles!

Just a heads up for those of you with 50K miles and up. you might want to check your shaft for wear.

One more thing:
My TPS looks rough too. feels gritty and sticky. Its black wire was exposed.
So I guess I'm getting one of those too.

Actualy it was under a hundred and came with all the stuff I didn't think it would like the TPS and the cable for the idle adjustment.

The odd thing is that it took me less time to put it all back together than it took me to take it apart.

Mine broke at only 12,000 miles. if I had known this was a factory weak spot I would have checked it during routine maintenance. It takes 5 minutes and could save a lot of grief

06 xb12x, broke last night at 25k mi.

should i be concerned about where the broken bits ended up? could they have made their way into my head/cylinder? easy fix or top end rebuild?

thanks in advance
