I installed wiring upgrade kit for the speedo-sensor that changes it's power source, now I have no light on the speedo! At night how can I tell if I'm going fast enough to be a hooligan if I got's no speedo light? Has this happened to anyone else and how did you fix it???? Mabe it's just a co-inkydinky.

I took the back plate off the speedometer, pulled out the bulb, saw the element is broken, but I don't see how to replace it. It seems that it is integral to the rubber mount that holds it. There are a black and a yellow/white wire attached to the rubber mount, but they go back into the harness and to parts unknown. Do I have to replace the bulb, rubber mount, and the wires? If so, where the HECKK do the black & yellow/white wires go?

The Bulb should just be a 194 I believe. I put an orange one in my bike.

My speedo bulb was a normal "peanut" bulb.
Doesn't it pull out from the rubber boot?
Replacement = $0.65

ken:
have you tried Leds in the meter housings?

the pic that you posted looked like you used orange "hi-lights" all kidding aside lighting the bike like that could be considered a safety feature ( I'm serious )

sides It looks kinda cool

would you consider posting how you did it?
I had strobes for a while kinda hard to see
1 in the chin faring, 1 in the scoop
it lit up the engine area as flashes of white

You guys were right. I pulled harder & the bulb came out (I had pulled really hard before & thought I was going to break a wire. Just wanted to be really sure before I pulled any harder.) I had a red #194 around the house & it works. Although great for night vision, the red light will probably be too dim at night & I'll replace it soon w/a white one.

Thanks.
