I am wrapping the header on my 99m2, The question to all of you who have done this before is; do you cut the welded brace between the pipes or not? If you don't cut that piece out how do you finish the wrap down to the collector? Do you just stop the wrap when you get to the brace? I sure would like some thoughts on this I'm dieing to get back on the road. As always thanks for the help.

Ken, I wrapped the pipes on my 99 M2 and just wrapped the front pipe down to the weld and zipped it off, then I wrapped the rear pipe and started wrapping both pipes at the weld. I wouldn't cut them, but I'm no expert.

When wrapping the headers for my carI started in front of the collector with each pipe and worked my way up. On the last pipe wrapped the collector and then worked my way up the last pipe. Using Stainless Hose clamps works better then zip ties. I have also been told you can soak the wrap first to cut down on the fiberglass slivers and heps you get a tighter wrap. I have not tried that personally yet though!

Future comment when viewing pics of header wrap on bikes: "what were they thinking?"
