My view is enlightened self interest. It's been my observation of a few thousand years of history that you can think of the Jewish minority in a land as canaries in the coal mine. When the canary keels over, the air is foul & you'd better leave or fix the ventilation, or die horribly. Likewise, when people who Blame The Jews go unchallenged, and Jew Hate becomes normalized, the feces is already on the way to the fan, & you won't like the splatter. I'm not going to even bother with the example of Germany in the first half of last century, except to point out that those who claim it didn't happen or wasn't so bad are such repugnant cretins and/or evil F%&+s that Leftists have adopted the term Denier as a label to lie about their enemies with. You might also notice the Great Lie that the National Socialist Workers Party is Right Wing and certainly not Socialist. Competition to Communist, sure. But it's just slightly different breeds of vulture, not different in ideology. The use of Blame & Hate are Identical. And I'll spare you a history rant since the Old Testament and uncensored history is too full of examples to list short of a thick book. Barry was... Practical. He hated the Israeli leader, to the level of illegal interference in their elections. But he didn't cut off all cooperation with Israel, as there are many in Congress who understand that without Israel, there's little chance of civilization left in the region. The King of Jordan may be popular because he rides but it's a tiny Kingdom with tremendous problems, and a lot of them are the unassimilated human shields of the Palestinian Authority. Plus Israel developed ( with the U.S.) the anti missile systems that might save your friends and family. So, Barry was hostile, but pragmatic. Harris? Unknown. Just Joe ( or his handlers ) are choosing really bad people to represent You in foreign lands, and domestically, many don't consider themselves your employees, but your masters. Who is making policy? I don't know. But I'm not optimistic. So please keep an eye open for the rising wave of Hatred that looks to be taking over the highest offices in our country. Court, I'm not sure of the exact number, but we need about 200k jobs a month to break even on employment with births/deaths/Legal Immigrants. Could be off by 30k or so, that's a rough average from multiple sources. So often, D or R, when the spoken of "percentage" is " good " or "bad" according to the talking heads and officials, reality is different. They don't tell you the U6 number, but it is in the Labor dept statistic pages. And they change stuff up so since I last looked in December U6 may mean something else, but it was the folk not counted as unemployed because they stopped getting unemployment insurance benefits, & stopped going to the State Labor dept. as required. Since it seemed to me the last time I was in Unemployment that the State Labor dept listings were mostly like "seeking engineers with 20 years experience with technology 12 years old" then & now once you are no longer required to go there, few do. That's literally millions that don't count as unemployed & seeking, even though they are. Iirc that system was from the Nixon administration, or maybe Bush the Elder, so as much as I'd like to blame Democrats, I can't. It's designed to give a false image. But the raw number, hired per month, is enough. More than 200k? Real unemployment down. Less? UP. But as I said, I'm not certain if 173k or 251k are the magic numbers, and that doesn't account for illegal trespassers. | ||

Rat, my Thrift Savings Plan ( 401k Federal ) was flat for 8 years despite a constant 15% of my pretax pay going in. But 4 years ago, until Jan '21, it went up a Lot. You can fill in the blanks on who occupied a certain house when.  That said, if you aren't retiring in the next 4-8 years, don't panic. It's possible President Harris* will do a good job, or the horse may learn to sing. This too shall pass, we're overdue for a civilization killer asteroid strike. SMOD 2024! | ||

I'm not too worried about my 401 at the moment. I don't need to live off it. My mother, on the other hand, lives off SSA and my late father's pension. If the current admin makes cuts that have been discussed, regarding spousal benefits and SSA payments...mom could be in trouble. And I don't like that. | ||

Take the current balance in your 401(k) as Soum two or three “good years“ right now or in the next couple years then dial it back to about a 5% return and run it out for another 10 or 15 years until you plan to retire. Do the same thing but put those “good years“ in the last three years. Study the result. | ||

One of my self directed IRAs has grown over 200% from the night Donald Trump won the 2016 election. Without Trump, Laurie and I would have been in financial rough seas due to my forced retirement caused by H1B engineers who have swamped our industry with lower salaries. I have sold 1/3 of my holdings and that in itself will insure a fun and horny retirement with the compounding that Court is saying. However, the downside of the "free" avalanche of money will eventually cause hyperinflation which will make every American "rich" in Elizabeth Warren's eyes and will be taxed accordingly. President Trump is one of the greatest Presidents in American History and I will work for him and follow his directives that fight the dismantling of America by the Democrat Party and the Senile Joe Biden. Trump is uncouth but I don't need a friend in the White House. I need someone who will fight and that someone is Donald Trump. | ||
