Speaking of the Omen, AntiChrist, etc., something struck me yesterday while working. I had never met anyone named Damien in my entire life until just a few years ago. Suddenly, it's a name that's popping up more and more frequently. Right now, I know of several of them. They are all in grade school too. It seems to be a new trend as far as I can tell. Not getting into the cause and effect part of it, it seems that the name suddenly became popular during the Obama administration. | ||

The Prophet knew of Christianity, and his invented faith was a composite of Judaism, Christianity, and local tribal faiths including Zoroastrianism. ( a monotheistic faith from the 6th century B.C.) As a composite, invented faith, it is intolerant of the source faiths. See also Protestant attitudes on Catholicism, above. Protestantism, Lutheran originally, is not a composite faith like Islam or Marxism, but a Protest against the old corrupt church and, among other things, the sale of indulgences to the rich. See also Carbon Credits. As someone who was Baptized Catholic, Confirmed Episcopal, and Chose Asatru, I was raised in Catholic, Lutheran, Episcopal, and briefly, Jesuit religions. I might have done better with the Jesuit part If I wasn't at the smart alec adolescent stage and constantly challenged logical fallacies during lectures. Thus I am mildly defensive about all of the above, except my Chosen faith, and simultaneously aware of the flaws in each. None are perfect. None are pure evil. And my sister joined the local Baptist church to sing in the choir, ( she's really good, a colortura soprano ) and is now Orthodox as she finds the liturgy and original Christian aspects to her liking. Now, a lot of evil was committed in the name of God by Christians in the past, but the Faith itself in the version's I've seen is not inherently evil. Neither is Judaism, Buddhism, or Zorastrianism. The same cannot be said for others. | ||

And their army was busy killing Chinese peasants, or struggling to hold Tibet against some monks. Nevertheless, there were enough of them that it was a common math problem to calculate if the saying was true, "March the Chinese population in single file past a point, and the birthrate is high enough that it will never end". Today the new God King Xi is looking outward for enemies to blame to distract his subjects from demanding the freedom & prosperity they see on the internet everywhere that isn't a Marxist Hell. I am reminded of a quotation by Vyacheslav von Plehve in reference to the Russo-Japanese War: "What this country needs is a short, victorious war to stem the tide of revolution." For public school victims, Russia lost. Another quote comes to mind, from Robert Wilson Lynd: "The belief in the possibility of a short decisive war appears to be one of the most ancient and dangerous of human illusions." Combine the need to keep the subjects from rebellion, and the indifference to deaths of the Chinese government, these are very dangerous times. | ||

Not my job. One thing I have looked closely at is general strategy in asymmetric conflict. Specifically that traditional revolutionary forces seem to terrorize to get the government forces to over react & get the people in the revolutionary's side. Islamist terrorists operate different, with the goal of intimidating opposition in the populace. While impromptu "think tank" American citizens asked to contemplate terror targets come up with scary mass casualty & infrastructure attacks. This often around a camp fire with civilian, veterans, active service & intelligence folk looking to predict & thus prevent such things. I certainly won't discuss the more frightening things people who's jobs include maintaining the systems that keep civilization going, ( thus know how to break it ) and pros who are trained in organized mayhem, come up with. Here's to that always being for the purpose of prevention. | ||

You want more Nazis? That's how you get more Nazis. You don't teach that resentfulness and anger at hypocrisy from Versailles CREATED the petri dish that nourished the Nazi plague on mankind, and create the exact same social malfunction? Idiots. Likewise, here, you want to tear down the statue of Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederacy & one of the founders of The Klan? Why? Fracking learn from this! I really understand the deliberate propaganda effort in education to NEVER EVER let the Evil Confederates be revealed as Democrats. NEVER mention that the Congressmen who hated and blocked Lincoln in the unCivil War and anti slavery were Dems. I get that. They want to keep power. They HAVE TO LIE. But there are more lessons to be learned. For one thing, it's important to teach that it wasn't JUST slavery that caused the Civil war. It was also rich Northern Industrial barons trying to keep the South from getting industry. Trying to keep them poor agricultural minions and not competition. It was the propaganda campaign to mock the South for being ignorant rubes who were racist, as part of both the anti-slavery movement and the drive to prevent the South from industrial growth. Most people in Georgia, etc. did not own slaves, and if some rich guy from a deliberately Other Elitist Urban Group calls you racist redneck & stupid, you will resent that. ( sound at all familiar? ) That's not so say that there wasn't racism, or ignorance, but it's not racist or ignorant to fear that a sudden influx of people who will take less pay to do your job threatens your ability to feed your family. ( If the slaves were freed, or they import millions of illegal aliens, the labor problem is the same. The Moral issues are quite different ) If you don't teach what caused the Civil War, honestly, completely, then there's is no way to avoid another. The same is true in Germany, where not properly confronting the past, but censoring it, combined with unfair guilt games, is a recipe for the rise of Authoritarian Socialism instead of an inoculation against it, which more honesty and less insane guilt tripping should produce. Personally, Having lived in a now vanished world as education died out as preparation and transitioned to indoctrination, I never needed to be told I shouldn't be a Nazi or own slaves. I was raised that the only reason you don't beat some guy in a hood, or with a swastika tattooed on his face, on sight to keep them away from you, was simple politeness. You'd have to be punished for public violence, so just don't look at the crazy, evil man. If he attacks anyone, then hurt him. Live and let live. I'm not saying that's the absolute best way to raise a kid, but it's a damn sight more sane than tearing down statues to hide that your Party was responsible for the Klan. | ||

The Red Chinese government, with it's new leader for life, decided to violate it's treaty with England about Hong Kong. The NBA is opening a training camp in China and intended to play pre season games there to make a lot of money. They already make millions from Chinese sales and want lots more. One manager "tweeted support for the Hong Kong protesters". Meaning iirc, that he retweeted someone's comment. The Chinese threatened, then trashed, the business deals with the NBA because they can't tolerate any dissent, it threatens their hold on power. And if they lose their terrorist death grip on power, they will die. That's how it works where power is held by force by evil men using terror to oppress their subjects. It's a perfectly legitimate and normal fear. ( never mind they deserve damnation in All it's meanings ) The leaders of the NBA being rich greedy jerks, apologized to the Dictatorship. Which wasn't enough, yet, as the Red Chinese government wants to terrorize all businesses to agree to suppress any speech that is critical of their murderous terrorist rule. The American public complained the NBA leadership w were being suck ups and trying to violate free speech rights. The NBA leadership then changed it's tune and insists they love free speech. So basically they'll say anything to try and salvage the profits they want. I'm openly biased against the worst mass murdering regime in human history that rules China. I don't buy merchandise or support any major league team sports. So I'm not surprised at all that the worst lying cheating murderous regime is putting pressure on greedy uncaring running dog capitalists. But the news today is repeatedly that Secretary X or Director Y or Deputy Director Z committed felonies, and none of them get arrested. And half the people who are arrested, all who had some connection with a Bad Orange Man, seem to have been forced to plead guilty under illegal circumstances, by people with a history of breaking the law & sending innocent people to prison by cheating. Lying about having evidence the imprisoned folk weren't guilty. So I get the impression that for a certain elite, laws don't matter. And that's very dangerous for a society. | ||

To do so they created a massive network of informants, and battled foreign spies with the same ruthlessness as any domestic subject who might even think about changing the status quo. And the Stasi had good reason to suspect gays of disaffection. The Soviets made ( and Russia still does ) extensive use of "Honey traps" to blackmail people, as did the Stasi. Lots of prostitutes were recruited by the secret police in both countries, given training, and money, to report on, and lure victims to bugged hotel rooms, so the agencies could blackmail them. Western businessmen were prime targets. ( this well know practice no doubt influenced the racy parts of the Steele dossier ) And the very best blackmail is the kind your victim will do anything to keep from view. Thus gay prostitutes were deeply recruited, as a typical Cold War Era Western business leader would be desperate to keep the folk back in Omaha in the dark about his bath house activities. But even with that background, it is amazing that the final choice of the leaders of an utterly ruthless & cruel dictatorship, should decide that removing the stigmata & legal rules against homosexuality would both remove the problems of blackmail by foreign powers, & remove cause to resist State Control by removing oppression, reducing disaffection. Hard to believe. Looking at domestic, American politics, this puts a fresh perspective on our ongoing culture struggle with sexuality.
