Here's how I wish the President would present things...

The press, and Antifa, and the actors, and the athletes, are all focused on "If you're not white, you're discriminated against...if you ARE white, you're a racist".

All bullshit.

Reminds me of all these ads I see for ancestry dot com - "I'm 47% this" or "18% that, I had no idea".

Bullshit.

You are 100% AMERICAN.

Your ancestors LEFT those countries.

They LEFT their jobs; they LEFT their homes; they LEFT their friends.

They came to AMERICA, to become AMERICANS. To fight. To struggle. To become citizens. to be part of the "melting pot" where color doesn't matter and background doesn't matter; what counts is hard work.

Where'd all THAT go??

In my mind - and my family comes from Germany (Goetz), and Ireland (there's a Catherine Elizabeth Harrigan in there)...but they came TO AMERICA. Which makes me - and my parents - AMERICANS.

I refuse to disrespect my ancestors' choice to emigrate, and to become citizens here, by emphasizing my past or focusing on Ireland. Or Scotland. Or Germany. I've got family from all those places...but THEY ALL CAME HERE. I'm not going to start wearing lederhosen. I won't start wearing a kilt from the Clan Ferguson. I respect those items...but accept that I am a mutt, and an AMERICAN mutt.

Focus on being an American. Being American does NOT "disrespect" those other places; not at all. Hell, our ancestors walked OUT of those places! They came here for a reason, and we're pissing on THEIR dreams and goals by doing all this divisive BS.

You have ancestors from Ireland? In love with Ireland? GO BACK TO IRELAND. We Americans won't be offended; it's your choice. But don't you DARE tell me that I have to change how I think of you, when all I see is an American.

Lots of times, I see an ...but an AMERICAN .

For those who are protesting the treatment of blacks - especially the rich "I want thirty million this season, not just twenty five million" ballplayer black athletes who won't respect our flag or our country - sure. Your ancestors were largely BROUGHT here. I get that. I didn't do it. It wasn't my fault, and there's not a damn thing I can do to change history. I'm happy being an American. You should be happy to be an American as well. You're free. We fixed that years ago. Want to hold a grudge? Want to do something to "make it right"?

Take your millions of dollars, and go back to the country your ancestors were admittedly taken from against their will.

Spend your millions there, where it can make a real difference.

Or...is that too "hard" for your pretentious ass?

Whatever you do, shut the hell up, and get out of my country, if you're not going to respect it. This country is WHY you're free. It's WHY you make thirty million dollars a year to play a friggin' game.

Remember THAT, when you refuse to salute MY flag.

And that goes for the press corps, and the MSM, and the Democratic party at large, as well.

President Trump? Feel free to quote me directly. Simply bypass any tax obligations I may have in the future...and get me a carry permit since the Republic der Marylanden makes it damn near impossible to get one, even when you're a law-abiding, stand-up citizen. I'll call it even : )

By Africans, Arabs, and Europeans.

It doesn't F'ing matter what color you are. You're not responsible for what some A-holes did 300 years ago.

*I* know that, and *you* know that, and other *rational* people know that. It's the knuckleheads who don't seem to understand reality...who should go "over there" and work on making a difference.

Let's see how THAT goes.

Probably as well as all the actors who were going to vacate to Canada after the election. Not so much, eh?

Effing well said Joe.

My paternal ancestors came from Krakow in the early 1800s.
One was a Sergeant in the Texas Confederate Army.

My mother's father was hispanic in SoCal, "from Spain" I was told.

Anyway, I don't watch football... I'm an American.

My mom shot a man and my father knocked a man out with the butt of a gun protecting me from attempted kidnappings. Cracking down on corrupt cops as a Transit Director in Ecuador was not appreciated by some.

But here, people protest imaginary wrongdoings and follow propaganda as gospel. Excellent.

An independent Kurdish state will reclaim ancient lands, initially from Iraq, an artificial state created by France & England. Then, inevitably, Kurds in Turkey and Iran will seek to join their tribesmen taking chunks of each country with them. Since both are run today by corrupt megalomaniac religious zealots I'm for the Kurds.

Foreign imposed political borders or no, the folks governing those countries won't let land go without bloodshed. The Kurds won't win, even if we help them. You know, unless we kill EVERYONE who opposes them, and that's not morally tenable.

It helps to know the history, at least the cliff notes version.

The Kurds are a mountain tribe that for longer than history has descended on the plains people around them, raiding, conquering, taking wives, the usual. So everyone who lives on the plains below doesn't like them much. Every Empire that grows in the cradle of civilization would eventually conquer the hill people, and then use them as their shock troops. When the Empire fades, things go back to normal.

I should do a paper on the parallels with Ireland/England with some title like "Ancient Hate, Islands & Mountains, Timeless Reavers"

The Kurdish Kingdom aka tribal area, is currently tucked in the corner of what is today Iran, Iraq, and Turkey.

They've been much more steadfast friends to America than we have been to them. Mostly because while they're always ready to kill the plains people, and hopefully carve their Kingdom back out, global politics has been against them, ( the everyone hates them part, see also "always ready to kill the plains people" ) and no one really wants the multi sided war which would destabilize the power structure of the surrounding nations.

But.... maybe we DO want to destabilize the surrounding nations?

I think you could free Iran and give the Kurds a tiny slice in the corner if you were really smart. However.

Turkey Really doesn't want that, and they'd bring the hammer down, and their partially Western trained and equipped Army is nothing to sneeze at.

OTOH, It might be a wise time to free Turkey from it's current maniac. ( but Smart maniac ) It's inevitable that the trend in Turkey back to the Bad Old Days religious/politically is ongoing. We'll have to deal with them eventually, and the cost would be so much higher, later. There's a chance that a win in the Obama's War can be pulled out. A re-secularized Turkey, Iraq & Iran are possible. Maybe.

This is the kind of thinking that led to the Iraq war. The notion of Iraq as a beacon of free secular Government in the Hell of the Middle East was seductive. I'll Blame George the Younger, AND his Daddy, and everyone on both sides of the aisle for screwing up the recovery of Iraq, since there were some BIG mistakes made. Mostly in allowing a theocratic Constitution, and supporting the local corrupt guy too much, the wrong way. We didn't get decent puppets even.

Darn it, we didn't even steal the OIL! If that's not a failure in foreign policy, I don't know what is. ; )

So. There are arguments for, and against, Kurdish independence from the point of view of a major power with our dick caught in the grinder over there. ( Since WW2, basically, Cold War, remember? )

I understand a journalist protecting their sources. How else do you get someone to dish the dirt?

But here we have a purported intelligence report, leaked by a political party employee and representative of the Russian Empire, who refuses to tell who paid for the report "leaked" to give anonymity to the client.

A report alleging international criminal activity and espionage.

Sources, sure. Refusing to name your paymaster in your ACTUAL Russian interference in the election? That is as close to a confession of guilt as you can expect from spooks.

Thanks Sifo! Henry is a hoot. Shows up on a local news show and does a segment called the street beat. He walks around his neighborhood in North St. Louis talking to locals about why they hate the Donald and tries to set them straight but most don't want to talk to him. He got his first bit of fame with his youtube video of him laughing at the Hillary lovers after the election.

Well, there's another chapter for Hillary's book "Other's To Blame".

Some will say that If Only she'd been willing to lower herself to the depths of depravity that is the Something Something Wrestling Something, perhaps her image would be better with the Deplorables. But she's far too good for that.

Best she stick to giving out favors for the donors to the Bill, Hillary, Chelsea, and Magog foundation...

See how shameful The Donald is, acting like that.

The operative word here, is Acting.

And... let's be honest. I've heard Hillary do the black southern voice, and like Gal Godot, accents are not her forte. But acting like someone she's not? Like Donald acting in the play in the video above? Maybe not so good.

Make no mistake. The days when Andre The Giant and others kept to the fiction that it was a sporting event and not a soap opera are long gone. This play was scripted, and the action rehearsed. I'm sure a drama buff would point out aspects of Greek Comedy and French Cinema with some existential angst thing about the psychology of the audience.

Me, I see a mediocre actor doing his lines pretty good in a venue where he's not the star, he's just the guest celebrity. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of actors who just play a version of themselves. They all can't be Jared Leto. Thank Gotham.

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/congress-warned- north-korean-emp-attack-would-kill-90-of-all-ameri cans/article/2637349

The stakes are high. If the whipsaw ( good cop/bad cop) tactic works at giving Kim some doubts then it's good.

2 quick observations.

While it's the results of Bill & Barry & to a slightly lesser degree George's fault that N Korea and China has been allowed to mass murder and threaten the world for fun and profit, Trump owns it now. And his abusive relationship with China is the first progress since Truman. ( and every President since is also responsible for inaction. )

OTOH hindsight is Not always 20/20. See Harry Turtledove's trilogy "Bombs Away" for an alternative WW3. If you don't want to read three well written books, just read the synopsis on Amazon.

2nd. Intelligence agencies are wrong, for decades, and forgetting that is a mistake. N Korea was x years away from having nukes and missiles. They couldn't be any good. This isn't the first or last time the "x years away" mantra has been wrong.

In part it's that leaders often don't want the fact that "predictions" are vague and full of "ifs" to cloud the public perception of their policies. And in some cases like Obama, his minions know he will fire them if they give him bad news.

Pournelle's Iron Law of Bureaucracy applies. Year by year the CIA etc. Has less intelligence people and more bureaucrats appointed by politicians. & those minion types have learned to lie to keep their jobs, to the point that the eternal problem of intelligence pros, that their findings are ignored for political reasons, is now endemic, and the lies hit the level that we no longer believe those who's job is to warn us of wolves.

Heck I bet there's a parable.
