Hey guys,
I just recently changed my brake and clutch levers on my 95 S2. I didn't disconnect any wires from the brake lever during this change. I tried riding it today for the first time after changing the lever and I tested the brake and clutch levers and they worked just like normal. Well, after riding for only about 2 miles, the front brake started locking up. It was a gradual locking, not just an immediate lock up. It got to the point where I couldn't move the bike at all. So in order to get out of the road I had to roll on the throttle hard to fight the brakes just to get into a parking lot (I only rode it like this for about 200 feet). Please help!!! I'm going to go back to the parking lot and see if having it cooled down has helped release the brake enough for me to ride it back home and put it in the garage and try to disassemble the brake lever again to see what might've happened. If you have an idea, please help. |

I've seen this happen before when levers are swapped, 9 out of 10 times it is because the wrong lever is used and it doesn't allow fluid to retract back into the master cylinder when you release the lever.
Compare your old and new lever, you may see slight differences. Confirm you have the right lever, and not one for another bike.
Also, do not buy the cheap Chinese levers on ebay, they tend to do this even more as they often mislabel or incorrectly make them. I've seen more than one crash due to these cheap copies. |

Thanks for the help. I'm about to go check it out and I'll look closely at the stock lever and this one that I got. I ordered these from narleychoppers.com and they're based out of Annapolis, MD. I looked up the levers by their OEM #'s that were given to me. Clutch lever #45017-93 and brake #45016-93. If someone knows different, please tell me the correct numbers.

Take a look here. This is where I bought the levers from. The exact page with the set that I bought.

Scroll down to where the numbers are at and the one that I ordered was under the "rpls. HD" 45049-92. It's the set. If you look under that set where the individual parts are, my oem numbers match up to those. |

I took off the aftermarket lever and replaced it with the old stock one and the bike ran fine now. I guess the lever is bad. I talked to a friend and he said he'll take a look at the threading and he has the tools at work to fix it if it needs to be re-threaded. Thanks for the help. |
