Purchased a used 08 Uly a few weeks ago and the PO had done a pretty poor job of rerouting the breather hoses. I would like to return the breather hoses to the stock configuration but am not sure how to route the hose. Did the crank case breather hose go straight up to the airbox?

I've posted a couple of pictures of the current mess.

Thanks,
Hugh

Yes the 2 breather hoses go to the airbox.

The PCV breathers go to the airbox. Not sure where the crank case breather goes... probably down the swingarm.

The PCV valve that plugs into the top of the rocker cover is part of the crank case breathers. There aren't separate breathers for PCV and crank case.

So that black hose is not one of the breather hoses that's supposed to go the air box?

I know the hose in the attached picture which comes out of the top of the rear cylinder is supposed to go to the air box where does the second hose come from that goes to the air box?

You should have a hose coming off of each cylinder head going to the airbox.

OK. One hose from each cylinder going to the airbox.

Could you tell me where the large black hose is supposed to be routed to that's in the first two pictures?

Thanks,
Hugh

That hose coming out of the frame near the rear shock is the transmission breather, that is the stock location, I wouldn't worry about that one.

The other hoses, wow, what a job to be honest. You can put them back to stock or get the reroute kit from American Sport Bike and do it right.

If you want to go back to stock, each head has one hose coming out of it, and each one goes into one of the two holes in the airbox base plate, number one in this diagram Terry posted

Thanks for the info everyone.

The more I dig into the bike the more things I find wrong or damaged. sigh. Caveat Emptor.

Ooops! I meant transmission breather! Sorry about that!

I've always enjoyed bonding with the bike as I "un-stupid" all the stuff previous owners have done. I think the bike appreciates you more... kind of like a rescue dog. : )

(And in fairness, someday somebody will likely pull off my luggage racks from my uly and say "really? Metric holes tappped for two bolts, and SAE for the others?". Long story. I blame Harley. ; ) )
