i got a 2001 buell blast about a week and a half ago. it has 11,000 miles and was running great when i got it. i did an oil change and broke a header stud (got the stud fixed) but now when i start the bike it runs fine untill i try to give it some gas. when i give it gas its like its doing the oppisite of what im trying to do. the RPM's drop and unless i let go it dies. when it will run when i slow down it backfires like crazy like the bike is not fiering right or something. any advice would be awesome thanks

This is almost scary, I have a 2002 blast and did the same thing you did(broke the stud) when I replaced my exhaust a couple of months ago. I've been on a few rides since then and it seems like I'm running into the same problem you are where I'm having serious backfiring issues and now it won't even start.

First thing I'm going to try and do is rejet the carb and have it cleaned. Also probably change the spark plug cause why not.

Let me know if you figure anything out before I do!

Thanks!

Peter

Replace your intake coupling and your stud, and exhaust gasket - make sure the gasket is seated evenly with the same or simular amount of turns.
