well just got my blast out of the shop had it in for new inspection (new to me that is) got a clean bill of health. problem: with in 100 miles the drive belt broke (odo has only 24 K miles) and have oil on my rt swing arm and brake rotor. got to push it 5 miles in the heat (90F+)no shade and only got to stop due to someone coming to my rescue with a trailer. hats off to cindy and her husband of valley springs ca. (sorry i forgot his name and probably should not post last names) drove me the last 10 miles. (mostly up hill as i live on top of one). but many stopped to ask if i needed help so there are good people out there. any thoughts about the oil? no time last night to look as i needed sleep as i get to be at work by 3:am. . |

The belt may have cut your brake line that has the brake fluid in it. Check to make sure your line isn't cut. Good luck replacing the drive belt. I'm not familiar with Buell Blasts but if you can adjust the belt make sure you allow for slack in it, as the geometry changes when the swingarm moves. |

Packnrat, As far as the new drive belt, just put it on. There is no adjustment to it. Make sure, though, that you put the spacers (they are different sizes, right from left) on the correct sides. The shorter axle spacer goes on the left between the wheel and the rear brake mounting "leg". The bigger on the right side. As far as the "oil", I would check all lines in the back to see if the whip from the belt snapping didn't gash any lines forward of the brake line. |
