i am having trouble with my 04 xb12r backfiring through the airbox and the exhaust and when idling it seems fine but when it put it in gear and start to ride it starts to chug and backfire. i just replaced the spark plugs and i do have a spy cable to remap but that does not seem to be helping. the mods are K&N filter, D&D exhaust and just the spy software. please help i am not getting alot of ride time do not want to damage the engine

Did you replace the plugs before it started backfiring?

Go back and recheck your work. Your plugs probably were the reason for the rough running in the first place, but it seems like you may have done something when changing them. Check the connections, plug wires, plug boots, etc. I've seen this before and typically it's an ignition issue related to a misfire from a short. A coil crapping out might even be it. I changed out fuel system components one time and then had backfiring, thought it was something I did fuel related. After hours of troubleshooting I realized my coil was burning up and it was a weird coincidence that it happened when I did the fuel work.
