2009 12SCG fuel pump fuse keeps blowing, blew 3 fuses in the span of 30 minutes, twice sitting at stop lights and once mid flight on the freeway. checked the harness for any chaffing and did'nt see anything, measured amp draw at the fuse after getting home and it was a little high 7.2A. Took it to the dealer and they were unable to duplicate the problem of course. Anyone have a fuel pump fail before? The bike is only 2 months old. | ||

first off stop putting in fuses just to blow them again. the fuse blowing is a sign of something very wrong electrically. if you keep doing it you are likely to damage the bike even more. See if you can check a wiring diagram and see what else may be on that circuit. if you have a service manual it should have a diagram for you. or maybe somebody else can post a pic of that page for you. | ||

Yes I realize that, but when your 30 miles from home and don't have a cell phone don't have much of a choice. Thats why its at the dealership now attempting to get fixed under warranty but they cant get it to act up now  . I told the service department that I saw a high amp draw on the fuel pump circuit but there method to diagnose my problem is to rack up a bunch of miles to see if the fuse blows again!  Since I have no faith in the service department's diagnostic abilities, I just wanted to see if anyone has had fuel pump troubles. | ||

buellogan, i had the same issue on my o9 cityx. it first happened just before the fuel light came on then again shortly after i put a new one in. i took mine to dealer and it showed a code for fuel pump. they replaced it (warranty). and has not blown yet. its been about 800 miles so far from replacement | ||

Dealer says no codes in system so they have been running it trying to get the fuse to blow again which sounds like a retarded way to diagnose a problem. I am convinced its a fuel pump it was sucking 7.2A when it should be under 6A. When it gets hot enough it spikes and blows the fuse but the dealer seems unmotivated to do a repair. Starting to get upset with the dealer but they have me hostage, as there is no other dealer in my area. | ||

try calling buell customer service. they should have knowledge of this issue. i read lots of threads on here with the same issues. maybe they can talk to your dealer. i heard of others on here do that for issues they had | ||

You might want to pull the fuel pump and check to see that the wires are not chaffed. This was a common problem on 06 Ulys. It was addressed in the following year, but it may still be possible for it to happen. | ||
