My head is a 59 or L or 7 3/8. Head shape is long oval (I have to have hats blocked this way). First recent helmet I bought was a RF900 in XXL. The cheek pads were too tight in XL. Then I got a RF1000 with replaceable cheek pads, but the tightest helmet that would fit was XL. Finally I got an Arai Profile in L. So what I'm getting at is that my best fit is the closest contact of the helmet all around my head, which is reflected by the smallest size. The extra sizing of previous helmets was taken up by empty space beside my head, which is not good (allows free travel of the head inside the helmet after impact).

Snug is better. Helmets will loosen up after a while.

I don't like it if I shake my head and the helmet doesn't follow.
